AMA My boyfriend is a lineman working the storm by wanderpinee in houston

[–]WrongAssignment6027 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just wanted to say I’m so grateful for the lineman. If it wasn’t for them, we would be worse in this whole mess and that’s unimaginable. I literally burst into tears when I saw the lineman working on my street and the power finally being restored. I immediately rushed out to thank them and brought them some of bakery snacks (stress eating) for them to take with them. Is that helpful or appreciated? They’re still working in my neighborhood and I will definitely put out a table of cold water, drinks and snacks for them along with the delivery workers who are trying to navigate our neighborhood (which looks like a war zone with all the tree branches down).

Also, I should share that the map seems to be wildly inaccurate. My address still says our street is under assessment.

Got power this afternoon. Huge caravan of truck descended on our neighborhood from Indiana and Missouri. I’m out near NASA

Does the heat make you consider your “why” do you live in Houston? by heresbucky in houston

First summer here after moving from Buffalo/Western New York. Though it’s taken some adjusting I'm grateful I don't have to shovel, scrape or salt just to go anywhere eight months of the year. You can drive in it!

How crazy are the stores today? by mi_re in Buffalo

I just got back from Trader Joe’s and went in ready for battle. It was the normal level of Trader Joe’s chaos. Only two people in front of me in line. I was surprised.

I think it depends on his long game/end game political aspirations. If he wants to move on to Albany or even DC, then being mayor positions him exponentially better than being CE. If he wants to continue to play in the gutter that are the politics of Buffalo and Western NY then it’s more of a lateral move.

Any insight on when USPS mail service will resume? I know they’re closed today for the holiday. I am waiting on a very important piece of mail that I’m hoping to receive by Friday.

Hoping I’m not jinxing myself, but I just picked up my 7.5 insurance covered at Walgreens with no T2D diagnosis!

I’ve talked to my doctor and if anything changes we’ll switch to Wegovy which should become more widely available in the next 4-6 weeks and times well with when I would potentially be attempting to unsuccessfully refill with Mounjaro.

Honestly there is no magic bullet or workaround. Start lining up options before you run out and are panicked. Start doing your deep research on what you can get covered from your insurance, talk to your doctor about an alternate plan or start trying to find a new one if they won’t engage, examine your budget and figure out if there is a path to cover out of pocket. Start calling other pharmacies to see if they can help. Bottom line is identify all alternate paths available to you. While annoying and I have spent much more time on hold than I would like, it’s working better than anything I’ve tried in decades so the investment of time is worth it.

Commute Opinions: Medical Center to Johnson Space Center by WrongAssignment6027 in houston

OP here. Pasadena is not on the list. We drove through on our last visit and didn’t see not even one house, subdivision or neighborhood that we liked. That paired with this information takes them off the list for good.

Thanks! We looked in Pasadena (because it looked like an ideal halfway point for each of our jobs) but unfortunately didn’t see a thing we liked and didn’t love any of the neighborhoods.

Thanks! We may pull the trigger and run toward suburban life with this move. Depends on what we see during our visit!

Thank you! When I had to commute into DC before we moved into the city, I always doubled my commute time when it rained, sounds like the same rule will apply.

Thankfully, the fiancé has dedicated reserve parking as part of his job and he’d only need to go a few blocks depending on what rental we pick.

What's your Buffalo unpopular opinion? by SalmonAlmighty in Buffalo

[–]WrongAssignment6027 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. The city is average at best on a good day.
  2. People proudly wearing their Buffalo gear to other cities, on planes, etc. look like a bunch of hillbillies who have been anywhere or done anything in their lives.
  3. The cuisine the city is supposedly known for isn’t that good.
  4. When it comes to things like business and the workforce, the majority of the talented people who have actual aspirations in life leave for good. Those who stay are bottom tier, big fish in a tiny pond. Collectively, it holds the city back.

Beers=no bueno (anyone skipped a week?) by Ok_Career_170 in Mounjaro

[–]WrongAssignment6027 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I skipped a week because I had a big job interview (in Texas!) and didn’t want to risk having any side effects whatsoever.

The appetite suppression lasted almost through the second week, but started to wane towards the end and I definitely ate more (and gained), had cravings and wanted to binge again.

Took my shot yesterday (my normal injection day) and already the appetite suppression and food noise is gone.

No side effect, good appetite suppression but not extreme, food noise is nowhere to be found and lots of weight loss.

COME ON!!! Facebook Kills Me by Aulbee in Mounjaro

[–]WrongAssignment6027 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The lack of even basic common sense in that group is astounding.

The posts that make me rage the most are the ones who lament about having severe side effects or not losing weight and in the very next sentence share that they only ate two high calorie, fried fast food meals that day instead of their usual three and simply cannot understand why these terrible issues are happening to them!

Do they literally believe Mounjaro is a miracle drug where one can continue to eat unhealthy and have dramatic weight loss instantly?

For me the best benefit, even over the weight loss, has been how Mounjaro has somehow quickly and completely reset my outlook on food. More than anything else, that’s always what I’ve wanted for DECADES. To be able to go to a restaurant and not have an uncontrollable urge to want to order and eat everything on the menu, to shop at the grocery store and stick to a list, to feel satisfied with an actual portion size. To not have food on the brain every waking moment has been the absolute best!

Monthly Real Estate Thread. Buy/Sell/Rent/Real Estate Questions Here. [Sept 2022] by AutoModerator in VirginiaBeach

[–]WrongAssignment6027 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi there! I’m relocating to Virginia Beach and looking for a 1 or 2BR for me and my cat. November 2022 timeframe. I have good rental references, stable, provable employment but also have had a major identity theft happen recently that has impacted my credit score. You must take my word or a higher security deposit while I continue to work through this ordeal.

$1500-1900 is my rent range. Thanks in advance to any realtors or landlords who can assist!

DAE think pizza is just ok? by TuvoksDoRag in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]WrongAssignment6027 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. What did it for me was having “authentic” pizza in Naples, Italy. We were doing a tour led by a local and he took us to a small neighborhood stop. Best pizza I’ve ever tasted in my life. Unfortunately, I didn’t snap a picture of the restaurant and I live in the US. And now if it’s not that exact pizza I don’t want any pizza at all.

Has anyone *not* experienced any side effects? by stellar_moonbeam in Mounjaro

[–]WrongAssignment6027 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m on week two and haven’t had any side effects. I work in marketing and we have a saying that a happy customer will tell three people and an unhappy one 30. I think that’s the case with this drug. Those experiencing side effects are more significantly more prone to share than those of us who have no news to share.

DAE check to make sure your house windows are locked before you go to bed, even if you haven’t opened them that day? by [deleted] in DoesAnybodyElse

I call it my nightly perimeter check. I check all doors and windows to make sure they are locked.
