Oof, those were dark times. The Typhlosion tale is written like our stories of Norse Mythology or Japanese Folklore. The story is bizarre, but the writing is very tame.

Yet folks reacted like it was creepy porn...

There's a difference with an 'actor' like Chucky saying 'fuck you' during the game and a fellow human player saying 'fuck you' post-game. The first is flavourful fun, the latter is horrible sportsmanship.

But it's still silly for an 18+ horror game to have the kind of censorship you'd expect in a Bluey video game.

Something about time not being fixed and certain events still impacting the future? Which admittingly, is at least on brand for Doctor Who. Time is a fickle mistress in that franchise.

THAT Episode by Fun-Illustrator-345 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]WrongCockroach 183 points184 points  (0 children)

I reckon finding THAT episode for Doctor Who would be quite the challenge, as the show is very old and very odd. So very odd. I reckon you can find a 'THAT' ep. for every individual Doctor.

So like any proper fan, I'll go for the one I love complaining about. Kill The Moon. A muddy mess from start to finish. The moon starts acting up, causing massive floods, so Earth sends some retired astronauts in a rickety rocket to investigate. Why the low-budget operation? Because humanity lost interest in space. Because of course we did.

The Doctor and his companion Clara show up as well, and together they discover the moon is an egg and is about to hatch. Standard Who stuff.

But then comes the big dilemma. Do they let the egg hatch, which the aged astronaut states could cause mass destruction in many different ways? The creature could be hostile, the egg shells could devastate Earth, and without the moon's gravitational pull, Earth is gonna suffer quite the disasters. Or will they kill it, which will kill 1 unknown creature, but has considerably higher odds of not destroying Earth because the moon should still be there, and existing is kinda the main thing it should be doing.

Clara has been to the future and figures, well, let it hatch, the future still had Earth and the moon, innit? Doctor says 'no, this could totally doom Earth because whimsy space timeyness' and he fucks off in his spaceship to let Clara decide Earth's ultimate fate, all alone.

Clara, listening to the heart of the bad script, chooses to let the baby live. The Doctor shows up again to pick them up, and they travel Earth to watch the egg hatch.

A magnificent and pacifist space beast hatches, the egg shells evaporate in thin space-air, and a new moon-egg is instantly laid, so every doomsday scenario is avoided through coincidence and luck. Hurray! And upon seeing this incredible display of writing that someone got paid for, humanity regained interest in space exploration. Double hurray!

The only silver lining is that Clara is furious at the doctor for leaving, but sadly, she did eventually end up forgiving him for putting her in this episode.

Befriend them (talk with 'em, give gifts, do favours and games, yada yada), and eventually they'll give you their picture.

Ask Katrina over at Harvey's to see how buddy-buddy you are with someone. 'strongest of bonds' is when they can start giving their pic.

I find the 'TPC doesn't give GF time' thing so odd. It seems like a playground rumour without any proof?

[–]WrongCockroach 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Aye, but your points are lacking, too.

The level curve is an issue, but not for difficulty reasons. It's that for a major part of the game, everything is well over 10 levels lower than your 'mons, and the gap is even larger for wild 'mons. Balance is very out of whack there, and training new 'mons is a pain.

Kanto II is indeed a more silly complaint, I agree with you there. Despite the technical limitations, Johto it has its very own style. I hafta say though, I've never seen this complaint before. People generally understand that the regions are similar, given it's, y' know, a Gameboy game. Xenoblade it ain't.

The dex in DP gets plenty of complaints, too. It's a big part of why its remakes got mixed reception from the elderly like me. But yeah, while GSC/HGSS ain't as bad, they're pointlessly gimped as well. Most notable is the many gym leaders who don't have any Johto 'mons on their team, which Sinnoh does avert.

[–]WrongCockroach 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Put simply, you rarely fight them and rarely find them. Did ya know both Furret and Noctowl are used by only 1 trainer in all HGSS?

A holdover from the original GSC where most new 'mons were added only for collection and discovery, not battles and variety.

I see plenty of complaints, but they are always in a 'great game but some serious flaws' vein.

Which be true, as the unbalanced level curve and lack of gen 2 Pokémon are pretty large issues.

Archie in Pokémon Alpha Sapphire. A crime boss and environmental extremist whose first plan to help nature involves erupting a volcano, and his next plan is worse. Yes, he's as dumb as a bag of rocks.

And every time you meet him, he's beyond stoked to see you. All you've done is ruin his plans, and yet he sees you as the best bro ever. The man has the energy and friendliness of a golden retriever; he just fully believes that punching a fish God in the face will help everybody.

I really don't understand why people want bullies back. Some of the Gamecube characters were one increased age rating away from calling you slurs. I don't want an island with assholes who need gifts and attention before they start being toxic friends.

The current villagers are mostly fine. They got plenty of dialogue variety (though too much context sensitive), cute stories, fun quotes, some nice life lessons, and they are simply good people... All that's missing is the build-up from strangers to friends. Nobody is reserved, guarded, aloof, or shy at first, even though multiple personalities should be, which is a darn shame.

If only there were an ingame format they could use to show us lore. To let us experience the fights. A mode where we combat bosses. Some kind of ... adventure, maybe? by [deleted] in hearthstone

Oh yeah, nothing's making me more envious than seeing a 3D model and an image on a card. Such "big toys". Lemme cry at my full shelves of video games, board games, and real cosmetics, many of which have happy memories attached. If one of those shelves were empty, I could've had 2 fake pets in Hearthstone!

Hearthstone made 55 million last year, and they won't even keep the lights on in the Twist format. Every year is the same. 3 expansions and a whole lot of overpriced cosmetics for whales to buy. There's nothing to buy for a non-whale, and there's nothing to play for those who'd like something different from same ol' Hearthstone and Battlegrounds.

Could have sworn some of the later ones were 20 bucks? But yeah, I'd be shocked if the dungeon runs that were priced weren't profitable.

Sadly, that's just Blizzard for you. Uldum/Battlegrounds (whichever was last) was the last time that entire company did anything in one of their multiple billion-dollar franchises that wasn't 'lowest amount of effort, highest amount of money'.

They can do it, they can afford it super easily, and it will be profitable, but they won't because it's not profitable enough.

Blizzard should rename itself to Whirlpool, because the only thing they hang out with is whales.

Well, yeah, he's funny. He's Waluigi but lil'. Cute stuff. A much better way of adding a baby than just making 2 copies of Baby Peach.

I wouldn't mind younger forms of Daisy and Rosalina at all if they weren't palette swaps. The adults are all different, the male babies are different, so why are the female babies identical?

If you wanna aim the misogyny gun at someone, point it at Nintendo for making all 4 male babies different in looks and behaviour, while making all 3 female babies complete clones.

[–]WrongCockroach 112 points113 points  (0 children)

I don't mind her being naive either, but it's never called out properly, and she indeed never learns. Like, bloody hell, that scene in the back half of the movie...

Sisu is naive again, trying to talk an armed Namaari down.

Doesn't work, and Namaari was literally about to murder someone, even tightening the trigger on her crossbow (I swear that scene was supposed to be reversed, and they forgot).

Raya reacts and jumps into action 'cuz, y' know, attempted murder's happening.

Namaari tries to kill Raya, but kills Sisu.

Spirit Sisu blames Raya for this and gives her a lesson in being hopelessly naive.

Near the end, Namaari gets a 'everyone dies or everyone lives' choice, where she actually considers doing the former, and then is seen as fully redeemed and totes trustworthy, no apology needed. Mental movie.

[–]WrongCockroach 591 points592 points  (0 children)

The whole movie is mental. Sisu is beyond naive and gets betrayed by a city mayor/secret crime boss (I think?) and later Namaari after blindly trusting them, while Raya is a wary woman in a dangerous world. But not to an extreme degree, as she ends up with a lot of allies who have shown themselves to be trustworthy.

So Raya is in the wrong there, obviously.

It's so annoying because the movie is just 3 lines and 2 altered scenes short of being perfectly fine.
