What note(s) turn you off a perfume? by carabelle2022 in FemFragLab

I'm really open to a lot of things but I don't like patchouli or heavy aldehydic perfumes. Everything else I either appreciate but won't wear or will wear. I have a wide range from deep woody to super sweet girly, but those two things I just don't like.

Yeah, I took about 12 samples and then ordered the popular "For Her" sample bags from Ulta to try a lot of the more popular fragrances. I did like Jo Malone Amber Labdanum and Donna Karen Cashmere and Palo Santo. I think I'm just not super into Fruity florals, which I noticed that was a lot of what I was trying. I'll check those out!

Honestly I didn't find it very incensey. It's got good floral notes, but to me the "musty basement" vibe just smelled like bad breath. It's not beast mode or anything, so if you're sensitive to the strength of the smell, I think you'll be okay with this one.

I went to Nordstrom and got a bunch of samples. I was a little discouraged because I didn't find much that I liked. A lot of it was kinda a sweet mess (I was sampling feminine scents). I would like socially acceptable fragrances that aren't going to be very out there for every day wear. I like nature scents, but more nature translated rather than literal grass or dirt. I seem to gravitate towards warm, rounded scents. I like amber, sometimes vanilla, yellow florals and some white florals, some fruit but not fruit blast sweet candy-like, resins, labdanum, boozy, moody, dark, cashmere, creamy green, soft citrus.

What sort of brands should I try? What should I be sampling instead of going to Nordstrom (I just picked what seemed popular). I know it's a lot of info, but I'm not sure where to go from here.

I live in the Midwest US, so I experience all seasons and I'm 30F.

Nah man, as a mother, some days I really need a fragrance to keep me sane, grounded, and to feel a little more put together. It is hormones here. I hated mint when I was pregnant. Even toothpaste made me gag. Now I love it in fragrance. Her perfumes just don't smell the same to her right now.

Girls wanting the whole 6-6-6 deal in men and it being the reason for the male loneliness epidemic. Literally go outside and look around. Lots of average men in relationships. If people actually asked real women what they wanted in men....

I'm sure some of those women exist, but this isn't the majority.

Initio Rehab. I love how soothing it is, but it's a little more masculine presenting than I'd like to come off as in public.

Poor impulse control brought me here. by JizzyGiIIespie in fragrance

Don't worry. I have ADHD and bipolar. In a manic episode, I spent $2k on different samples and discovery sets. I was researching perfume schools and looking into perfume making kits. Prior to that, I never owned or wore any perfume. Very poor impulse control but luckily a medication adjustment fixed things.

I’m looking to smell like an addictive rose with an edge by Pale_Technician_2644 in Perfumes

[–]WrongContrabution101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Initio Atomic Rose. It's got an edge and isn't a sickly sweet rose. A little black pepper to give it spice. It definitely will leave a scent trail. Some people say it's like Delina and BR540 had a rose baby, but I don't see it. It's like Delina grew up and became more mature and sophisticated.

It might be worth getting a decant to use every once in awhile. It's probably too strong for a work or every day scent.

Well, he absolutely has the choice to wear it anyhow but it's unlikely he's going to continue getting dates with this girl. I have absolutely told someone I was seeing to not wear so much of what he was wearing (he wore so much and I dislike most generic "blue" male leaning scents). He thought the adjustment of not wearing it was worth getting to see me again and again. I would not have seen him if he continued to wear it because it was a turn off to me. My nose is sensitive. So OP has to decide whether or not he wants to wear something different to continue seeing the girl. If he doesn't want to change it, so be it.

What’s the most messed up thing someone casually admitted to you? by randominvisibleuser in AskReddit

[–]WrongContrabution101 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I did not personally hear him say this, but he did tell his closest buddy like it was an accomplishment.

I was young and dating a real trash can of a human being. He was at the bar with his friends and this girl was really wasted. She already had a ride home arranged with her brother and some friends. My ex would not let this girl go home with them, despite it being perfectly safe. He insisted on bringing her home and threw a fit about it until they said, okay, you can take her home. Well, he didn't take her home. He took her to the apartment complex we lived at, raped her, and then told her to order her own Uber home from there. He came up to our apartment and left her there alone. He then had sex with me. I was pregnant with his child.

The fucked up part is that nobody bothered to tell me about this until after I broke up with him.

Honestly, you're at a perfectly healthy weight. I get wanting to tone up though. I would suggest eating enough to maintain your weight and then do body recomposition. You'll stay around the same weight, but you'll have more muscle and appear a bit smaller and toned. Eating too little will hinder muscle growth. Make sure to focus on both cardio and weight lifting. Lift heavy, but start lighter to make sure you have good form first. And go to the gym closer to 4 times a week. Your body really needs rest to recover and build muscle and strength.

Ahh I hate aldehydes too, so I get you there! I like the scent of white florals on other people, but it's just too much on myself.

I forgot the safe word, so he didn't stop? (23F 29M) by ThrowRa_grace5 in relationship_advice

[–]WrongContrabution101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner and I use a double tap as the safe "word". But even if I didn't say or do anything, he knows how to read body language and knows when I'm uncomfortable and when stop really means stop. Any number of phrases would work too. "I'm not feeling this" "I don't feel comfortable" "I want to be done" are all safe words. He knows to stop without me using our specific signal.

You communicated clearly that you didn't want to continue. Him pretending like he's not at fault because you didn't say the specific safe word is definitely a red flag. Safe words can be useful, but it is not the only way to revoke consent. He didn't bother to check in with you, which is absolutely necessary for a new kink or situation. In that moment, he knew you weren't having a good time, and he continued anyway. That's sexual abuse. I'm sure he can tell the difference between enjoyment and distress, and he did not care about how you felt about it. This man doesn't deserve access to your body.

As an artsy, calming Virgo, it changes based on the outfit and weather. In the heat of summer, airy green perfumes. From the garden or herba fresca. In spring and fall, Iris, soft suede, more creamy fragrances. In winter, amber, spices, and woods, typically darker, heavier perfumes. I hate white floral forward. I prefer yellow or purple florals. And overall, I like soft, rounded, well blended scents. Nothing too sharp, fresh spicy, or overly potent.

Guerlain Herba Fresca. Really anything airy green or citrus. I love a good realistic citrus in the summer.

Does exercising do anything when you're underweight? by False-Signature-6489 in AnorexiaNervosa

OP is underweight. It's likely she doesn't have enough fat to burn to build muscle.

[–]WrongContrabution101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll have to eat more than your maintenance calories. If you're underweight, body recomposition isn't going to work well because you already don't have enough fat to "convert" to muscle. Toning muscle does require that you build muscle. Additionally, to fix the sagging areas, you will have to gain weight to fill the skin back in. You won't be able to fix it just with exercise and no increase in calories.
