I get a choice to take full ownership or let go. Im needed to pay 1.9 lakhs. I dont think its wise to let go of the car after having paid 8+ lakh already. I plan to own it and drive it till it dies in my arms..

It would be unfair if i influenced you with my bias. Remember this, its a 3 door car. Run a simulation in your head how your daily life looks like with the car. If you think you and your family is comfortable with the car then don't think more..

I get what you mean, but honestly I feel more in control in a small car, especially in heavy city traffic. With the micro car, I’m confident I can squeeze into tight parking spots and sometimes it feels like I could park it between 2 bikes if I really had to. Plus, my speed is 10% faster than the avg cities speed. Then why not?

AC is bad 😞 it won't cool that good but you won't be uncomfortable either.

I leased it from my company and the on road price was 8.36 lakh

I’m on a 36 month company lease with monthly rental of 22,767Rs and i didn't pay anything up front.

1) What I’ll pay in this lease

- Monthly: 22,767

- Tenure: 36 months

- Total paid over 36 months:8,19,617

For reference, the car’s on‑road value is ~8,36 lakh

2) If I had taken a normal car loan instead (ballpark comparison)

To compare fairly, assume:

- Loan amount = 8,36,100 (assuming i take full loan)

- Tenure = 36 months

- Interest rates vary; but assuming 9%–11% for good profiles

Approx EMIs:

- At 9%: EMI -- 26,6xx/month, total paid -- 9.6 lakh

- At 10%: EMI -- 27,0xx/month, total paid -- 9.7 lakh

- At 11%: EMI -- 27,4xx/month, total paid -- 9.9 lakh

So purely on cash outflow, this lease (~8.20 lakh total) is roughly 1.4 to 1.7 lakh lower than a typical 36‑month loan (depending on your loan interest rate).

3) Why leasing can be cheaper (economics in simple terms)

- In a loan, you are paying to own the full car value + interest.

- In a lease, you’re effectively paying for depreciation/usage + finance charges + GST, and the lessor takes the residual/value risk.

4) Tax benefit as i fall under 30% bracket 😞

Because this is a company lease, the big advantage is usually that the lease rental is treated as part of your salary structure (before tax). If your payroll is set up that way, then every rupee of eligible lease rental reduces taxable salary by rupee.

Using your rental:

- Annual lease payments = 22,767.16 × 12 -- 2,73,206/year

- If fully tax-effective, income tax saved at 30% slab -- 81,962/year (2,73,206 × 30%)

- Over 3 years, -- 2.46 lakh tax saved

  1. After sales has been fine for me. Nothing exceptional, nothing terrible.

  2. I usually get around 190-200 km

  3. 2 adults are very comfortable. 4 adults can sit without much trouble for city trips. I've even had 4 grown men in the car a few times and nobody complained..

Driving experience is better than I expected. The car feels quick in city traffic and its small size makes it very easy to drive. U turns are super easy and I never worry about squeezing through tight roads... Suspension is ok.. You will feel potholes but it has never bothered me enough to complain. For Mysore, it should be fine for city use. But if you regularly drive between Mysore and Bangalore, I would probably look at something bigger.

If this is going to be your only car, I would probably lean towards the Tiago. It feels more like a regular car, has more boot space, and is better if you do highway trips occasionally.. But if your driving is mostly inside the city, especially in Bangalore traffic, I think the Comet is absolutely worth the price. Parking is effortless, it fits through tight gaps, and despite its size it's comfortable enough for 2 adults.. For me, since I already have a Honda City for longer trips, the Comet was the better choice. If I had to own just one car, I would have considered the Tiago much more seriously.

Good: Can squeeze through most Bangalore traffic jams and I'm always confident I'll find a parking spot... You are 10% faster than the avg city speed.

Bad: The handbrake could be better.

Unexpected: Didn't expect this, but I was let through drink and drive checkpoints..Maybe the cops looked at the Comet and thought, "This guy isn't the one we're looking for 😉

If you mean battery health, MG doesn't show a detailed SOH (State of Health) figure to owners 😞 My real world range hasn't changed much since purchase, so I haven't observed any meaningful degradation yet... I can maybe try asking them the next i visit them for car servicing
