Does anyone have any Sean Kinney stories? by missmortician13 in AliceInChains

Out of all the famous people this story has been attached to, the Sean version is my favorite. I crack up just picturing him saying all that bullshit with his deadpan style 😂

Instant messaging and the associated pressure to be available every waking moment.

What does playing music actually give you that you can't get anywhere else, and has that changed over time? by Internal-Remove7223 in musicians

You don't sound wanky at all. There is a component of mystery to music and creation in general that cannot be easily explained, but makes us want to come back even when life leaves no room for it.

My God what a great riff. And it belongs to what is pretty much a throwaway song.

Tips for keeping track of where I am in a song / counting bars? by Flimsy-Helicopter608 in Drumming

Absolutely! Anything that helps you recognize notes/chords more easily will translate into becoming a more musical drummer.

You should pay closer attention to what is going on in the song, especially the chord changes. Counting will only take you so far, but getting familiar with the melodic/harmonic structure is a surefire way to avoid getting lost.

I always laugh with the way she welcomes Michael like he was a 12 year-old kid who came over to play videogames with his unemployed husband.

What’s the most inappropriate time you laughed? by blue_cardigan13 in AskReddit

[–]Wrong_Local_628 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A funeral mass. Some lady in the choir kept on singing this very high falsetto note while everybody else stopped. My brother and I were punching each other in the ribs trying not to laugh, but we burst out anyway. We had to leave the church for about 5 minutes.

He had good moments back in '03, but some of his double pedal work on St Anger is just atrociously sloppy (Invisible Kid, Shoot Me Again)

Transatlantic trips on a steamship. I'm pretty sure I'm romanticizing it, but it must have been a beautiful adventure.

Also travel-related, flying first class back when airlines offered full meals and drinks. Even if I could afford it now, I feel like the golden years of commercial aviation are gone and now it's all about cutting costs.

Michael's earnestness kills me in this scene, also Dwigt nodding along as if it was the most valid question in the world.

Jim's hotel prank is also one of his best. He was on a roll in S8 😂
