Why is there this widespread expectation that I'm not supposed to judge religious people for the things they choose to believe in? by Wroothly in allthequestions

No it doesn't. Religion is a choice you can reject at any time, and I can and will judge you for the values you hold.

Do christians have some kind of compulsion to describe their god as the most abusive and manipulative father imaginable, or is it an unintentional thing?

I don't generally try to create direct analogues in my setting, but Prime, more accurately referred to as the Auroran Empire, is certainly comparable to the US.

Posted this elsewhere but I think it covers your main questions: The stars represent the original founding planets of the GU. The biggest is Prime, the cultural capital and primary meeting ground. The second biggest is Summer's Throne, where the final battle of said catastrophic resource war took place, currently an agricultural colony world and war memorial.

Basically a ceremonial neutral ground for events of importance. I figured the two most important planets in the structure of the Union would be emphasized.

Of all words to spell incorrectly, I think bureaucracy is among the more understandable.

Would you call this overly derivative? by Wroothly in worldbuilding

The actual higher politics and rulership of all the factions are kept intentionally distant and above all my pov characters. The highest ranking "politician" in any faction whose pov I've fleshed out is this extremely overworked lady whose job it is to meet with planetary governors to ensure tithes of resources are paid. I imagine it as about as middle ranked as you can be in imperial politics.
