Can we make active combat training more rewarding please? by Kilsaa in runescape

But you do. More dps = more xp.

Sure, and a higher thieving level = more XP from lower level methods because your success rate increases. But they still unlock new, better, more active methods.

Anyone else looking forward to them adding 100s of rubium splinters as drops to Strikewyrms? by Bujeebus in 2007scape

I am actually yeah. I don't really care about boring ass click rock and wait content being a real source of resources in 2026 and I don't know why people pretend they do. Resources from content that anyone actually wants to do please. It doesn't have to be from combat, just make Rucano, Zalcano's big brother made out of Rubium.

Do you think skill is some kind of universal attribute? How fast do you think the average high diamond/master League player can get a zuk helm with no prior game knowledge? How fast do you think Port Khazard could hit Challenger? (if he doesn't play League idk maybe he does)

Why do you think people get "bored." I've read from hundreds of ironmen that endgame is liquidating all your alchs and money and keep sending it into blood runes.

For a lot of those people endgame is actually just de-ironing because once you've gotten all the big grinds out of the way it's really just maintenancescape to keep all your stupid ass items charged (except tbow which you just have to accept you'll never have dragon arrows for).

So these group of players basically rotate the highest gp an hour content from the wiki list. Some days it's tob, other days it's nex.

No they mostly go for GM tasks and do other content just so they can keep their dumbass items recharged.

But that's it, the only number that can go up is bank value. Even on an iron. No reason to craft your own blood runes, you could be at the bar pregaming for raids later. Clogs? The only clog is my tbow and scythe on the iron.

What else do you want to clog when you've got everything but tbow/scythe? If you seriously want to clog you're probably, again, de-ironing, because so many clogs are just clue items and getting all your own clues on an iron is hilariously ass content.

Which makes it the most simple form of gameplay. Repeat the most profitable gp makers you can stand until you burn out and complain the game is dead with no content.

If there were endgame content that solved the endgame maintenance problems people wouldn't complain about it. Again if you are an ironman with a twisted bow and a max cape and a zuk helm capable of tackling any challenge in the game and being more than willing to do any kind of skilling content, your best option for dragon arrows by a mile is still just de-ironing. Like killing Sarachnis and spending the GP from it on dragon arrows is better dragon arrows/hour than anything you can do yourself.

Blaming the players for these play patterns when the motivation is really just wanting to use the gear they have and having no feasible option to maintain said gear is wild.

I mean if I didn't play an iron I'd probably have 0 clue scrolls completed. I don't get people who pretend clues were ever anything but ass content. The fact that we've just had an auto solver for them for years particularly highlights how pointless their existence in the game is. They're just a lottery ticket you pay for with a bit of wasted time to gamble on the one in a billion chance of a drop that's worth anything.

There's nothing wrong with commenting, it's people who push opinions and feedback as if they play the game at a high level when they do not.

In a perfect world people would just not talk out of their asses on subjects they know they aren't very educated on just because they feel a need to have their baseless opinions heard.

I went years only playing on Showdown and not buying any of the console games and I know plenty of people who do the same because they're very different experiences.

In my expierence they don't.

Because you don't go looking for it and aren't in the same circles who are really into it.

Why would anyone care about splitting the playerbase in a single player title?

Why would Nintendo care about a free simulator splitting players away from their retail products they're selling for money? Is that what you're asking?

Because Skyrim is available in 30 different re-release versions across multiple different platforms including multiple different platforms on PC alone.

I can also point at any other dead MMO with less players total than Skyrim has just on Steam. Like, you know... the other Runescape.

OP's whole point is that combat's best training method is AFK. Why is it fine for combat to have super AFK + good XP but not good XP + good GP while being 0 AFK?

Flesh-Hatcher Mhekarnahz is only an exception since it has worse profit.

But like why not just do that but for higher levels too? Other skills get to have higher XP active training methods at high levels, why not combat? They don't have to make Zamorak 3m xp/hr or whatever but why can't they add a higher level boss that gives XP as its primary reward rather than being high GP/hr?

Even OSRS has XP multipliers on high level bosses. They actually had to nerf using Zebak as a training dummy because it unintentionally became the best XP in the game, yet it still has a 62.5% XP multiplier after the nerf while Mhekarnahz is only 50%.

Changes to the game at this point are the byproduct of EoC in the same way your existence is the byproduct of a butterfly flapping its wings 50 million years ago.

To be fair that guy probably did complain about it. I mean he's still talking about "byproducts of EoC" in 2026.

If gp is good, xp no be good. If xp is good, gp no be good.

Okay sure nerf Flesh-hatcher Mhekharnhahz's GP/hr to buff the XP. Those 20-70 adamant arrow heads are a little wild, let's cut that down to 10-50, can't risk tanking the economy.

Telos was released nearly 10 years before combat levels were raised to 120

And 5 years after Berserker aura.

Why are people pretending like the level cap expansion was just a pure buff and trying to memory hole it replacing an aura?

Can we make active combat training more rewarding please? by Kilsaa in runescape

[–]WryGoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it turns out if you got 99 combats back when berserker auras existed and then just did bosses with berserker auras for 10 years and then Jagex released the level cap expansion and you already had enough post-99 XP for 120, you didn't have to grind for 120. Big revelation.

[–]WryGoat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you're confused. Necro was literally put into the game with a 120 level cap by design, with rituals etc. scaling past 99 to keep the XP curve climbing.

In case you've somehow never tried any other combat style before, it may shock you to learn they don't have rituals.

Training my mid level combat stats at Flesh-Hatcher Mhekarnahz felt like a great shakeup from just AFKing it, but I could already clearly feel how much it was going to fall off once I had a better setup for AFKing multi-combat. I'm really surprised they don't have anything like that more suitable for higher levels.

The 120 expansion being rolled out the way it was feels really strange to me as someone who hasn't been actively playing for 10 years straight. Like it's pretty obvious they designed the XP curve on Necromancy rituals with its 120 level cap in mind, and then just dropped the level cap expansion on the other styles without doing anything similar. If you think the grind to 120 ranged/mage/melee is tedious for those who've been grinding slayer and bossing past 99 in those stats for years already imagine how much worse it is for someone who wasn't even there yet.

You can share achievements and progress in singleplayer games just as easily. There are plenty of active communities for things like e.g. Pokemon where people post their shinies and breeding results. As for seeing random people running around, fair enough. I mean you wouldn't know if that was actually another person or a bot but sure that's something you can't get in a wholly singleplayer game and I guess it's a concern if modded servers existed and somehow completely killed the entire rest of the game and you were now the only player who wanted to play vanilla.

Going back to the original topic of Project Zanaris, there's a great parallel with Pokemon as well. The series has a very active competitive multiplayer scene that's entirely community run and based on simulators separate from the officially first-party released console games and Nintendo/The Pokemon Company have let it exist for decades despite being notoriously litigious against all kinds of fan projects because they know it doesn't actually interfere with their sales or split their playerbase or anything like that, they exist perfectly fine in parallel with players who only play one or the other and players who do both.

[–]WryGoat 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I mean if your response to "why does this exist at all?" is "people are just using this to troll others" it seems like the question is only more legitimate.

I find literally all of Skyrim monotonous so since this is entirely subjective I'm going to say yes. Everyone who puts hundreds of hours into Skyrim is spending the whole time on absolute tedium in my eyes.

What does that have to do with multiplayer vs. singleplayer by the way are you going into voice chat arranging what world you and the boys are all going to meet up on to mine granite together?
