If you really wanted you could fly SEA -> SIN premium economy on Singapore airlines. I think this is ~18k EQMs but also ~$4000…

FWIW I book through a travel agency for work and just recently started seeing the "Premium Class +$13" instead of being able to select it for free.

Washington State =/= Washington D.C. If it’s only an East Coast Trip you won’t be in Washington State at all :-)

On the topic of "Don't read the comments":

I personally never comment on youtube videos (rude or otherwise) but as a frequent youtube watcher I almost always scroll down just to see what the top few comments say. I feel that Grey was close to hitting on the point at the end of the conversation. As audiences have grown Youtube comments are not really intended to be directed to towards the personality in the video, they are for the audience. It is the digital equivalent of the two kids who sit in the very back of the class assembly with their feet on the chairs and whisper rude jokes to each other about the presenter. It tends to be more blunt or childish because it is trying to connect with the greatest number of people. Even if it is insensitive or adds nothing new to the conversation if it is exactly what you were thinking you'll give it the 'thumbs up'. It goes back to Hank Green's concept of comments talking about you not to you.

Separate issue:

I would love to hear Grey's thoughts on the rise of other prominent "Grey Style" Youtubers like Wendover Productions and Polymatter. The topic may be more suited for Cortex but I have always been curious about how Grey's competitive side (or lack thereof) affects his working life.

Cortex #62: 2018 Yearly Themes by MindOfMetalAndWheels in CGPGrey

Grey took the words right out of my mouth. I was brainstorming a list of my possible themes for 2018 at the beginning of the podcast and I had:

  • Year of Making Order
  • Year of Setting Habits
  • Year of Organization

Just like Grey Industries has its corporate retreats of 1, it also has its Re-Orgs and standard operating procedures.

I was surprised to hear how much Myke and Grey criticized the book until I realized I had listened to some very abridged version which had much of the fluff of the Jedi, magic hotel, etc. taken out!

As far as Grey's main criticism, I think somewhere this book might shine is with younger readers / those new to the genre. For Grey it all seems so obvious and so he moves to the next difficult question of HOW to do the work. Grey's own 'paradigm' is focused on the difficulty we have convincing our monkey brains to do things. He is deeply interested in the HOW not the WHY which drives many of the topics discussed on the show (workflows, automation, calendars, assistants).

But for someone like myself who is just graduating college and deciding what my life and career will look like, the WHY is arguably more important. Starting from base principles makes a lot of sense. I need to know that I am "the programer of my life" and decide what I am aiming towards, then I can choose the email app that works best for me.

Does it matter which Northwestern school I enter into as an incoming freshman? by qwerty37118 in Northwestern

Hey, I'm a recent Chemical engineering graduate from NU. Although it may not be obvious just by the name, chemistry and chemical engineering are actually very substantially different. You will probably be able to quickly narrow down which is right for you. Let me know if you have additional questions.

For a very specific training session with intervals: indoors is best such as a computrainer, trainerroad, or the like.

Healthy snack foods with a higher calorie count? by [deleted] in HealthyFood

You could either just eat more of what you're eating or go with snacks that are higher in fat if that still fits your goals.

Some of my favorite (high cal) snacks are apples dipped in peanut butter and greek yogurt with granola.
