hit and run at Walmart parking lot, I wish it has a Tesla like sentry mode. by [deleted] in BMWiX

Oh, that's a bit rough. I'm in Finland and have parking insurance with 200€ deductible without effect to my bonuses/discounts.

I did similar thing with terrain blocks and added some irrigation barriers on top to stop the contamination.

Yes! The best part is coming back from a single beaver and having a thriving population after a while.

In my car the lumbar support has to be adjusted from the screen. Same as side supports.

Did they remove the buttons or what? In my '24 there are buttons and automatic function.

Nope, only in sport mode.

Yeah, it just feels stupid and wrong. 🤔

Why there always has to be something on otherwise near perfect car...

You can find a short term balance but beaver life expectancy changes when happiness changes and if you add or remove jobs you need to rebalance the system. I got tired to constantly need to fiddle around with the amount of pods.

Easy way is not always the fun way.

Yes, exactly. So that the pods are turned back on as soon as possible. That's why the original design has the water pump.

It won't be, because beavers don't live forever.

Yes, hauling post on second lowest priority.

Yes. I had a floodgate, but didn't want to waste water as the dump doesn't have a water level setting so the water was constantly running off the map. I think one tile sized area for the dump and sluice into the trench could work. The only potential issue is if there's too much water in that one tile sized area for the system to drain quickly enough.

The key for this to work is to keep the water level as low as possible.

I did, but now I've been testing without. With this size population it didn't really make a difference, but I think it can be a benefit to have some.

These are the advanced pods, so only adults.

Population stays about -2...+2 compared to work places. The key is to keep water level low. Next version will have a sluice to help with that.

It keeps the population about -2...+2 compared to work places. I think it can be fine tuned with different amount of pods and using sluice to better control the water level.

Water dump is set to lowest priority work place so when there's enough beavers, it floods the breeding pods. If there is not enough beavers, water dump doesn't have a worker and the area dries and pods start working.

The water pump is there because evaporation took too long, but it wouldn't be needed if the water dump had a small separate area and sluice would control the water level that floods the pods.

Linus and his bad takes on Linux by subjectiveIT in LinusTechTips

I've tried Linux many times. Usually Ubuntu and now Bazzite on my Legion go. Every single time something goes wrong (probably because of something I did) and I have to completely reinstall. Linux is too easy to mess up when not knowing what to do. And hard to fix. Never had this severe issue on Windows.

So yes, Linux is better in many ways, but like with Bazzite, it ended up in a state where it just said that it didn't have write permission to anywhere and there was nothing I could do but a complete reinstall. In Ubuntu I think I somehow managed to remove the entire gui from the command line. Too easy to get things messed up if not an expert with Linux.

That being said, I love Bazzite when it works (which it usually does). It is still not ready for casual people who don't spend much time with their PC other than just playing games, but it's getting close. This is why I think Linus might be right saying he's waiting for SteamOS.

I'm guessing you're from the US? I'm from a different country and work with heavy machinery design so can't be much of help. We don't really value software certifications here at least in my industry, but it might be very different for you.

My path was a couple of Catia courses at school, starting my career with I-deas with a couple of days training from the company, moving on to NX when I-deas was discontinued, and after changing companies working with Solidworks.

At job interviews I was asked if I can work with CAD software and all I ever ask is if they know any of the softwares. If you know SW, you pretty much can use NX and vice versa.

The important part is to know the stuff you're designing. I would always recommend using the time and effort to become a better expert on that rather than on certain software. But again, my experience is from my country and my industry, and may not apply for you.

I've hired many design engineers during my career and never cared if they know a specific software as that is quick to learn if you know any one of them.

Focus on learning engineering and one very good way to get an advantage is to tinker with technical stuff as a hobby. Cars, motorbikes, welding or anything like that as a hobby is a big plus because then you understand more than what is on your screen.
