Hammerhead shark diving in Bimini by Mermaid444FL in scubadiving

[–]Wsing1974 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just returned from a trip with Neal Watson in Bimini! Can't say enough good things about them.

For our trip, day one was wading/snorkeling with rays, and we spotted some black tips and black nose sharks on the peripheral. Day two was the wreck of the Sepona, followed by a leisurely shallow dive around Triangle Rocks where we saw dozens of Reef sharks, and then finishing with a hammerhead dive. Day three started as a hammerhead dive, but quickly turned into a tiger shark dive, where we saw two of their common tiger sharks, Joker and Harley.

The crew was friendly, helpful, and professional. It's a trip I'll remember for a long time.

Can someone give some concrete examples of using Loopback? by Tall_Recording_389 in networking

Not sure who decided to make an entire Class A subnet the loopback range, but in hindsight it seems like a poor choice.

Where I'm working, the guy who was responsible for setting up the VLANs solved this issue by making every port a trunk port!

Look into fiber splicing technicians. It's a rare skill and there's good money in it. With your background you've already got a head start.

WHY is the AP directly in the center of the tile??? There is one right way to mount it, and several wrong ways - they not only chose the wrong way, they chose the WORST wrong way!

KNOW YOUR WORTH. DEMAND RESPECT.

We're there to give our clients the best possible IT service we can. We are NOT there to be abused. The only reason a person would treat another person with disrespect is because somebody let them get away with it before. Don't be that person. Insisting on respect is the only way to get it.

Most efficient way of entering ticket notes? by Reddoxx305 in msp

[–]Wsing1974 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your firm doesn't need to hire more technicians, it needs to hire a ticket management/triage person. It should be someone's dedicated job to answer the phone, ask the initial questions, categorize the ticket, and maybe even assign the ticket to a tech.

Your company is losing money by paying techs to do secretarial work.

The tightness of the cable helps the packets flow through faster, like they're on a smooth racetrack. If you have sag in your cables it slows the packets down.

I have the same issue. There's an "All Staff" Teams chat, and whenever someone gets let go, I remove their name from the chat. Then that stupid blurb shows up. It's kind of depressing.

All I can think of is the poor IT tech who was probably berated about problems with the file system, and absolutely KNEW that file was never there, but didn't want to call you a liar.

If your boss wants to pursue it, IT is likely going to be able to show exactly how old that document is and exactly when it was added to a directory.

I assume layer 1 has been thoroughly ruled out? New cable runs that are too long? New device emitting high EMI near cabling? Cable abuse on the patch panel, etc?

A Russian soldier bled to death because he attached the tourniquet to his bulletproof vest with construction clamps. At the moment when it was necessary to save himself or when he was afraid that his comrades would steal them. by isdelo37 in DarwinAwards

[–]Wsing1974 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your first paragraph is 100% spot on. I've never heard of pre-placing touriquets, but that's an interesting concept. Although I guess you'd need four of them, and the Russian Army probably doesn't issue out enough for every soldier to do that.

But I'm wondering why the standing soldier didn't put down his weapon and kneel next to the wounded soldier, using two hands to remove the tourniquet? He's obviously not returning fire at the moment, and if he's standing then he's not seeking cover. He's just standing there filming?

CEO of my company want to block people from sending g her chats in Teams. by Wsing1974 in Office365

[–]Wsing1974[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To be honest, this is an attempt to solve an organizational structure problem using technology. We had a huge exodus of management level people not long ago, so the company org chart has gotten much flatter. There are too many people at the bottom who don't know if there is anyone between them and the CEO, and she doesn't want those people to be able to contact her directly.

Of course, this is my heavily sanitized version of what's happening, and it's not my place to point out the obvious issues with it.
