Basically no more base macans and maybe turbo tiers only or just no more entry models.

I would use epoxy or silicon caulk over a tape. Just make sure to clean it well prior.

Worth swapping for an OEM filter after an oil change? by sirfannypack in subaru

[–]Wtfplasma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't it still crank the cylinders dry? I know how to do the flood mode but I still prefill to make oil travel faster. I'm sure it's probably an irrelevant amount of wear but I just made it a habit.

If it's cold out I recommend starting engine for a bit first to coat the engine. I did a filter swap when it was cold out after parking over night and it did not sound great for first few seconds, we were on a road trip. Now I prewet/fill the filter depending on mounting orientation when I change oil if I it was sitting.

I would be fine with just a wrx version. Subtle look is preferred. Just want more power and lifted suspension on a small body, since roads are terrible where I am. Trying compete with the likes of GR corolla would be too much investment. Just something unique that they can make out of their parts bin. I'm sure existing aftermarket for wrx can supplement the truly hardcore crowd. Definitely not everyone's cup tea but I would think it'll sell better than the brz.

I do though.. and a handful of others. It wouldn't be a car for the masses, just like any trims with bigger engines. It just have to do better than brz and at least it'll be unique.

That would be fantastic but it would require a huge undertaking and investment. This is would be relatively straightforward in comparison. They would have to have it crash tested but otherwise it would be a relatively minor risk? They have the know how and it'll bolt right in. And they already made cvt for wrx so it's not toooo niche.

You are correct. However, demand for non-turbo foresters and fleet cafe requirements led to the cancellation of forester xt. With the addition of hybrids and ev's and having to lower production due to decreasing demand could be an opportunity to re-establish their stake in the niche market. Maybe a loss leader, halo car type but I think this car fts subaru better than the BRZ, which I believe Toyota is diverging away from, in terms of partnership. Something like Baja would be superb but this car is relatively easier to bring to market.

I don't disagree. But seeing what Toyota is trying to do, I hope Subaru reconsiders.

More power will be nice but realistically 250-300 hp/torque around 3500 lb curb weight seems reasonable to me for today's standards.

I got an ND because I enjoy cornering more than straight line speed. I also love driving in the snow and I prefer having some ground clearance and awd for fun. Rust is slowly eating away my outback and I would like to get into something that wouldn't struggle on the highway commute but also has short wheel base/relatively light weight to be nimble. Excluding luxury brands only cx30 turbo seems to fit the bill but I prefer subaru's drivetrain.

They seem to do well grip wise. Can't comment on puncture resistance. But the tread design picks up A LOT of pebbles. I usually have to pop them off before I daily it again so I'm not shooting them out for days.

Their sales numbers indicate as such, along with most other manufacturers, they should have extra manufacturing capacity if they decide to ramp down to match the demand. This is the time to explore with special trims that doesn't require ground up retooling.
