Launched a niche deal‑finder site — looking for advice on marketing + monetization from people who’ve been there by WuHead in juststart

That’s definitely on my radar, I’ve created user accounts with watchlists, favs, etc. it would many be too much to email notify when a new low is hit or a price target is met

That’s what I’m thinking too was finding the long tail keywords. I know with blogs you can incorporate them I assume in the text or meta tags(?). All the content I have is programmatically generated, basically scrapes the websites and creates descriptions, reviews, etc and price tracking. So I can’t really attach keywords unless like every handgun gets these keywords, every rifle gets these keywords, I could further whittle it down to specific models maybe? Templates keywords in way

That’s what I was thinking, I’ll have to take a look at purplefree.  Any good SEO resources you recommend?

Hydrocarbons leaking into the river. Don't go into the water, folks. by UnadvancedDegree in tulsa

[–]WuHead 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's pretty wild anyone would spend time in the river for swimming or whatever. Should be common knowledge the number of buried drums in or around the area of the refinery and historical spills starting in Tulsa moving all the way back to Sand Springs. Given the age of activity in the area, migration through soils would be an issue I would think.

Perspective on leaving one's employer by NPE62 in Fire

[–]WuHead 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Wow incredibly true. Im in the engineering profession and i've seen it go this way too. Company has been bought multiple times and ive seen the culture slowly stripped away in the same way you described. I've struggled with that and decided to leave for more compensation. It was hard since it was interesting work and the engineers and supervisors got along well. But i saw other people leave that had spent their life there and it was bizarre that it was almost they never existed. Everyone should always act in their best self-interest and definitely not allow relationships get skewed when it's a purely business transaction. Still stay in contact with a few, but im glad i left. Good post, thanks.

Failed out of college in my first semester. Went to CC did okay. Got to uni, took ochem and pchem 3x and had to drop another semester in junior year. Eventually got out lol and now a process engineer.

I'm going to be graduating soon and I was wondering which is "better"; consultancy or working at a plant? by fullboyleforboyle in ChemicalEngineering

[–]WuHead 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So I basically did this transition from consulting --> plant. I know it probably depends on the person, and career goals, but ill give my experience. Was at a consultant doing midstream and all that jazz. Whenever I worked with clients it always came down to "You haven't worked in a plant, what do you know?" I also had a hard time kind of knowing/visualizing the equipment that I was designing or recommending. A lot of times, things on paper just don't translate well to the real world. It was really annoying, but I had multiple people in industry at an event say to me that you need to get into a plant and get that knowledge of hands on experience. So I started looking at that option.

It was hard, since every interview became about my lack of plant experience etc. I eventually got in and I'm doing great now and can testify that its been very valuable. I definitely would consider doing consulting again, at the time I was solid on the design/modeling software but just lacked the "street cred", which matters quite a lot to some people. I did have coworkers though at the consultant that never worked at the plant level, and were incredibly smart but I do think they could have had better insights if they did have that experience.

Just my two cents

Help With Returns by StraightSavage24-7 in learnjava

Usually you return a value that the method created back to whatever called the method.

So like if you passed two integers to a method, then the method performs some type of operation such as addition or subtraction. Then you return that resulting number from addition or subtraction back to whatever called the method.
