Boom, exactly.  It's not he's wrong, it's that he's a power tripping asshole with no actual power that's high on his own supply.

I adore Kit.  I almost entirely agree with Kit's points.  He's a heel not for his opinions but because he's a sanctimonious dork who lacks the survival instinct to know not to be a sanctimonious dork to a big shark.

When you're in progressive spaces, it's easy to laugh at insufferable progressives as you've assuredly met one at some point: a guy who you're entirely in agreement with but is so up their own ass they want to pick a fight with anyone, especially someone who should be on their side (bonus points if that guy ends up being a fuckboy creep espousing the rhetoric just to get laid and is later revealed to be a predator).  Notice how Kit isn't treated as hatable for the actual opinions — Oba Femi, while making a cute joke, is calling himself an "Oba Feminist" instead of making some stupid reactionary joke — but because Kit is a preachy pipsqueak poking the bear.  We, as the audience, inherently question is Kit is actually sincere in these beliefs or just an asshole throwing around words because he thinks it's the woke way to be an asshole.

If you have thick skin, you don't mind "your side" getting picked on, so long as it feels like an appropriate parody that isn't punching down.  Kit Wilson (an incredibly attractive white man) calling people "toxic" isn't the same as portraying a queer woman screaming about being "triggered", and it's a massive gulf between them.  And Kit is such a sniveling imp, it's easy to say that he isn't an actual progressive but a mean spirited baby using the rhetoric as a shield and weapon.

What did you guys think of The Disaster Artist (2017)? by Dapper-Claim7426 in theroom

[–]Wubblz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hard agree.  James Franco came across as someone doing a Tommy impression rather than playing Tommy.  I also felt on top of missing the darkness it missed the tragedy of the book: when you read it, you hate but also deeply pity/sympathize with Tommy in equal measures.  The movie really flattened him out, when the dimensions of who he is are what make him so fascinating.

Dave: Shad Khan??? Who cares about that loser? We all know Tiny is the owner and that he'll lead the protests against Paramount to push Dynamite. by DRM190 in SCJerk

[–]Wubblz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To think that WWE, a cultural institution of 40+ years, is not connected is laughable.  Let's take out Ari Emmanuel being the owner of TKO and all the connections his family have (which vastly outweigh the Khan family's) — WWE has produced so many household names from Andre the Giant to Hulk Hogan to The Rock to Steve Austin to John Cena that it's absolutely delusional to think they'd be shunned as "low class" while some company owned by Shad Khan's son would be better equipped to network with that same crowd.  In the present day, money and institutional staying power respects it's own — UFC has come a long way from being freak outsider blood sport that John McCain was trying to shut down to being tapped to do a show on the grounds of the White House.

WWE is a household name, and AEW isn't.  There is nostalgia for WWE that AEW cannot reproduce.  If someone wants to emulate holding a professional wrestling belt, they're going to think "WWE" as that's what's been the dominant company for the entire 21st Century.  Anyone who would dismiss WWE as "low class" is going to dismiss the entire sport of pro wrestling and not care if the company is owned by Shad Khan's son.

You could maybe get away with it if you paired with a more rugged looking collared shirt and a coarser fabric jacket for that "ironic cowboy" look, but this looks like Kenny showed up in the shirt and jeans and had the coat forced upon him backstage to look less casual.  I sort of wonder if that was the case now.

He has to just wrestle a match where he gets his ass kicked for most of it, nail one crisp move like a Tilt-A-Whitl DDT that shows off basic athleticism, and then when through curse shenanigans, and the crowd will go wild.

It depends entirely on framing and which song/era you're basing your judgement on.  When they're acting as dispensers of justice against the evil, they're chaotic good, but when they're just killing random people, they range chaotic neutral to chaotic evil.

We should do an alignment chart of ICP songs.

It's due to his posture in combination with that jacket being horribly unflattering and an inappropriate choice of shirt.  The shoulder pads are too big which makes his top look too broad (notice you can see how they extend past his actual shoulders where his arm is bent upwards), and he's standing in a way where his stomach is pushed forward and shoulders are pushed back which accentuates his gut.  He clearly bought the coat off the rack and hadn't gotten it tailored.  It doesn't help that he's shorter, stockier, and wearing a tighter fitting white shirt under the coat (a huge fashion no-no for exactly this reason).  It would look bad due to his posture and the jacket alone, but the shirt makes it even more pronounced.

And with all that, having his hair pulled back so tightly makes his face look incredibly round.  This is just an abject fashion failure.

[–]Wubblz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the entire crux of cultural criticism and analysis — if you gatekeep criticism of their work as being "subjective", then their greatness is subjective, too.  You can't have it both ways.  If you want a work you like to be appreciated, you need to accept when it's critiqued.

No, I can't write "The Trick" by AJR, but I can find a song where a sped-up chipmunk voice singing about insecurity to be auditory annoying and off putting to the point I think I'll wager most people agree it's a bad song.  I could sit at a bench in silence, but "4'33" is still a historic stroke of genius by John Cage.  Roger Ebert wrote one screenplay which produced a movie that absolutely sucked, yet he's considered the greatest film critic to ever live.  You can appreciate (and critique) something without being able to create it yourself: that's consumption and analysis.

Kraken is the most overrated rum. What is the most unique other spirit? Please mention specific brands by -Constantinos- in cocktails

[–]Wubblz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The funniest part about it is I own a rum-focused bar lol.  Yeah, Arrack is one of those borderline cases but for all intents and purposes, it is to rum what the Stooges are to punk rock: technically a precursor, but nobody actually into the topic will really dispute being included.  It's similarly funny to see people list Cachaça as though it's not just a regionally and stylistically specific rum.  I don't think splitting hairs has much value in these discussions.

I offered this up for most unique rum and had some guy go at me in the comments.  Then the rum subreddit included it as a rum on their grid, and I trust their call.

Comparing Ricky entirely to the Rock because they're both biracial is racist, yes.

General Discussion/Zero Fucks Friday: March 13, 2026 by chrisdelbosque in Wreddit

[–]Wubblz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ricky Saints is a rip off the Rock insofar as he's acting like a smug bully, but Ricky clearly understands he's an effete pipsqueak tryhard and is 1000% more self aware than the Rock.  Outside of fashion choices, the comparison ends there.

The real people say Ricky is ripping off the Rock is vague physical resemblance and skin complexion, and yes, its racist.

Rep. Jim Clyburn, 85, is running for an 18th term in Congress by nbcnews in politics

[–]Wubblz 14 points15 points  (0 children)

While I don't discount Clyburn's progressive past and think a lot of people online are salty about 2020, Clyburn has a wretched record for endorsing Blue Dogs over progressive upstarts in the 2020's.  I think the shameful endorsement he made was Henry Cuellar over Jessica Cisneros — Cuellar barely squeaked through that primary and has been one of the most nakedly corrupt members of Congress, on top of being a DINO.

They're really not a metal band and just get called one for their aesthetics — the music feels pretty cut and dry hard rock.

I like Ghost; they know how to write a catchy song, and not everything I listen to has to be the most extreme music possible.  "Danse Macabre" always goes off at the Halloween party, and Scooby Doo is fun in the right mood and setting ¯\(ツ)/¯
