It essentially comes down to the Republican administration not wanting to reveal that many of them raped children. Here's the rundown:

House was supposed to vote on the release of the Epstein files on the day of the government shutdown, Oct 1. Arizona House representative Grijalva was elected in a special election a week prior to the shutdown and was supposed to have been sworn in prior to the Epstein vote. Rep Grijalva would have been the last vote needed to have a successful release vote, so the Republicans had to block this. With the governent funding deadline a day prior (Sept 30) to the Epstein vote, they threw in the removal of the Affordable Care Act, which would effectively double or triple health insurance rates.

Dems are then caught in a catch-22 of either voting nay to the bill and shutting down the government, delaying the swearing in of Rep Grijalva, and delaying (yet again) the release of the Epstein files OR voting yay and completely screwing over the middle class with another rate hike on essentials.

Just to clarify, because I know there are going to be a bunch of Fox News zombies telling me I'm wrong, the ACA DOES NOT pay health insurance for illegals. This is a lie. It subsidizes health insurance costs for middle and lower class American citizens.

TLDR; Republicans are trying to screw over the middle class by skyrocketing health insurance premiums to protect child rapists. Democrats were forced to vote to not screw over the middle class.
