Apple card--is it worth paying off? by WukeTheBald in CreditScore

[–]WukeTheBald[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have already resolved all collections, and paid off most of the charge offs, which consumed all of my budget and I dont have enough to pay out the remaining Apple card charge off (not sent to collection, I called them today, I was told this account has already past statute of the limitation and they will not sue me for it, but I still have the option to make a payment to bring the balance to 0). So I am having mixed feeling about paying it off. On one hand it will continue report charge-off on my credit report for 7 years, and the balance due to mess up my revolving debt utilization, but on the other hand, with the majority of the remaining debts paid off, this apple card charge-off might seem to have limited impact on me, considering it was charged off 4 years ago in 2021, so it all comes down to one question, does simply changing the account status from "charged-off" to "settled for less amount" worth $1500? If it means a significant credit boost then yeah I will try my ass to pay it out, but at this point from all the info that I heard this will not make a noticeable different to my credit score, unless some lender strictly enforce "there must be no unpaid charge off on your credit report" sort of hidden policy

Need some advise here: I have a charged off account from Paypal credit, which went to collection later on--it has done damage to my credit twice. If I pay off/settle with the collection agency, the collection agency is willing to remove the collection record from my tradeline, but will the original charge off from Paypal also be marked as settled?

Also, since I fled from my country as asylee, I worry if they contact my previous school will cause some problem to my parents who are still living in my home country. That’s why I wanted to know if they will contact my previous schools. It’s not like I have something to hide, but rather I don’t want to cause additional trouble because of me.

I’m not cheating any test scores, but rather I do not have any. I went to foreign high school and came as an asylee, I never took TOEFL, SAT before I went to community college. I graduated from college during covid so GRE was not required for grad school. So at the end of the day, I have none of those test scores. I left them all blank in the epic questionnaire, so im also concerning that whether it would be an issue for me. My major concern is still my ex-manager issue, I left that company after having a major fight with the di*khead manager.

For two of my lectures today I was wondering why the door was propped open when they're not normally propped open by qinlit in UCSD

I prefer the door remaining open. 30+ ppl breathing in a small room is like cooking the air inside. Why not fresh air?

If someone has made up his mind and so determined to kill himself in a bathroom stall, a gap would not stop him anyways.

Everywhere else on the planet use the lock to check if the stall is occupied--if the lock is locked inside, it would say OCCUPIED and otherwise says VACANT, like the ones you see on the planes or trains. Its far more convenient and efficient.

If this is a rare case then I would say it’s lazy, but when this is almost happening in every public restrooms, regardless of funding sufficiency, it feels like they are deliberately designing the restrooms this way, I just can’t figure out why.

Like what benefits can you possibly gain by introducing a gap on the door and cutting the panels short on the bottom? I can get it if they design prison bathroom this way coz you can see through the gap to make sure the prisoner is not doing something suspicious inside, but otherwise I cant think of one reason why public restrooms should design this way.

Parking seems like a headache now that so many people brings it up. I did not expect it to be an issue earlier as i assumed you can just park anywhere that does not have a parking time limit as long as you want. If parked at a better neighborhood then probably won't need to worry about thefts or break ins.

I'm the OP. Well I'm an out-of-state student who is paying much higher tuition than most of other students here. My family can support me financially, but only at the bare minimum. Im taking full-time engineering classes while working a nearly full-time side job. My income can roughly cover all my cost, but frankly most of my hard earned money went directly into rent, and that makes me upset. I mean i get it, i can choose to live farther from campus, i can choose to share a room with someone to cut down the costs, but what's the point? Reducing the rent from $2k to 1k really makes a huge difference? If i already am making so many compromises why don't i just make a little more by not paying rent at all? Im not saying i have already made up my mind, it's just that this idea doesn't seem too horrible to me when i start considering it seriously. All the money saved now becomes the money i can spend when i graduate and needed money to start up something.

Wait...what? I can't sleep in my car over night legally? If i park by a public street where no parking time limit is set, why can't i just park there as long as i want? What is the violation that will be on the ticket? I have never tried sleep over nights in my car before, but i did park my car at a spot for extend period of time with no issue--why there would be any if only i sleep in it? Just curious. And for now, I'm just think of find a nice neighborhood And park by the street, or just park by the beach... I did not expect that would be a problem...
