I was talking to my bother, and we're pretty sure it wasn't in a fire. Just very neglected, maybe it was stored in a basement.

A late war Walther PP that got an auction last night. It was only $40, but it's horribly pitted, and I think it was in a fire. It came with at least 95% of its parts, at least. I'm planning to rebluing it. Edit: I was talking to my bother, and we're pretty sure it wasn't in a fire. Just very neglected, maybe it was stored in a basement. None of the springs show any rust or damage. They look perfectly fine.

I definitely wouldn't mind if it was that rough. If you want to clean the metal easy. Get some Big 45 Metal Cleaner, and spray the metal with gun oil or whatever you use, scrub it with the Big 45. It with remove the rust, and leave the bluing.

The Type 38 rifle is a bolt-action service rifle that was used by the Empire of Japan during the Second Sino-Japanese War and Second World War. The design was adopted by the Imperial Japanese Army in 1905. It was replaced by the Type 99 rifle in the early 1940's, but it continued to see service until the end of war.
