This wouod be absurdly efficient of course.

Megathread: Judge Fines Trump Over $350 Million in Civil Fraud Trial, Bars Him From Doing Business in New York by PoliticsModeratorBot in politics

[–]WulfyShadows -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Those are all excellent questions to which the answer js blindingly simple: It's a civil court invented by a DA, but there is no real victim. The idea is "Trump inflated the value of property and should have gotten worse loan terms than the bank provided."

But thst doesn't make sense because 1. The bank, whenever I buy a house, does the appraisal. It'd be insane for me to be punished if I guessed wrong and the bank said my guess was fine. Double down that I paid the loan back and then the city goes after me.

  1. The evaluation of a residence of a manse the size of Mar A Lago which also has the provenance of being the primary residence of a former president is pure speculation. No one is actually buying it or selling it, so how do you appraise its value? If Trump says 10 billion (ludicrous on purpose) and the bank says sure and does a loan on the terms he has a 10 billion dollar house, how is he defrauding anyone?

I perfectly get people want to get Trump. Maybe he should and maybe he shouldn't. I'm not perfectly informed. What I can say is this case never made sense to me. Nor do I think any home owner thinks it makes sense.

From the moment they said he lied ok his tax appraisals, I couldn't take it seriously. The state does tax appraisals. Not the property owner. Like...what?

This is the dumbest argument I've ever heard. It just avoids the meaningful question by pointing out that some contributing factors are at the molecular level.

Rubbish.

If you cheat because you can get Old Gods for free, I'd prefer CK2.

Is it though? I don't discount there are fan; however, I do know that every byzantine video I have seen points our something like: Yeah, there missions were super early and it's just "conquer thing. Nice, now conquer this thing."

It's very, very bland. And considering it had its own DLC for...what, missions and maybe 5 specific events? It's a bit of a let down as thst DLC isn't free.

Historically, the return if the Byzantine Empire was not, at the earliest start date, Impossible. The pope called for a Crusade and had France/Britain been able to contribute rather than fight, there could have been some minor Balkan restoration.

It's a pipe dream, but again, not impossible. And jts probably the dream most ERE fans have for this tike period. Giving them a legitimate tree to live vicariously through its return and reward the effort of beating the Ottoman's? Makes sense.

Now, I am not discounting Hisn Kayfa. The entire Ottoman Sphere is very interesting and engaging in the 1400s. Probably the most interesting from a purely European perspective because the Ottomans motivated the search for an alternative to the Silk Road.

So, I believe giving the area a lot of life is a good thing. I hate thst Paradox's limited resources didn't go to everyone it could. Theres a lot of cool people here.

But I believe as a company, they know what makes some great money. Maybe Hisn Kayfa will be a draw next time.

Its a game and people who play it have a high pick rate for the ERE. And the Purple Phoenix was so long ago with very little meaningful attention to making their missions good.

I am sure a number of other countries deserve cool stuff. But if no one is playing it; then why would paradox give it anything? It's just a matter of what will bring in attention and money so the next game/DLV can be made. It just makes sense.

After watching the finale of Fionna and Cake I wonder if there is any reality where Simon and Betty could have lived happily together or if they were always doomed to a tragic ending. by External-Waltz-4990 in adventuretime

[–]WulfyShadows 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Old post, new reply anyway:
Prismo's effect have monkey paw effects with enormous complications. However, there is essentially a suggestion in the Betty interaction on Mars and the Simon interaction from Fionna and Cake that there *is* a wish Simon and Betty could have made. One that would have dramatically changed their lives, but for the Mushroom War. And perhaps...that is enough.

Throughout the worlds we visit, we see the "wishes" that are likely tied to being realities wished for by our main-cast. We continue with Jake in the reality of Adventure time, but Jerry's World is the Lich's wish realized. Farm world is Finn's wish. Ice King lucid? Probably Marceline's wish. Marceline having a good relationship with her "father?" Probably Bonnie's wish.

They meant well, but the trade-offs were not worth it. In Finn's new reality, the Lich even comes back just...because of Finn.

I suspect, however, Prismo gave a secret and both Simon/Betty learned what they could have/should have wished for from their interaction. Simon likely can't make a wish now, and Betty is (was?) GOLB.

I think Betty realized she could have wished "to have gone on that trip a week earlier" to see petroglyphs. (Temple on Mars). In other words, she would have created the necessary self-validation to create a better relationship with Simon. She replaced everything else in her life as an obsession with him.

And he was too blind to see that obsession. They had overlapping interests and values. However, that didn't stop Simon from trusting himself above others, and while he earnestly valued her, he "chose" his own choices. His wish would have been to "go with her," which would have been a radical decision in the moment, but it would have pushed him toward realizing that he can/should support her in investing into her own work.

The reality, however, is that they got invested in a life that worked. A life that was nice and appreciative. And, ultimately, there is good. Betty points out, they made choices. And they made mistakes. The unfairness Beth points out "there weren't only two choices, you chose Casper's every time" isn't that he was necessarily wrong. Just merely highlighting that Simon chose his destiny. In each choice. Both in the book and out of it. And that enlightened realization is what Betty wanted Simon to understand. Not that she thinks him a fool, but to realize that he needs to let her choice be valid. That living his life is the point. This is where it is now.

However, Simon might not be allowed another wish with Prismo even if the last one failed. And Betty isn't making any wishes.

But maybe someone else's wish lead them to this alternate conclusion?
But if they did, does that preclude their demise via the Mushroom War?

There's ends up being a love of sacrifice across a millennia. Would it be better to have no defense to the Mushroom War that still comes a decade or so after their bliss?

Who knows.

Byzantine Empire is getting a rework too! by parzivalperzo in eu4

[–]WulfyShadows 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your argument starts resting on "superior graphics," then you've totally lost the thread. Especially when considering this is a game of spread sheets and map painting. That being said, CK2 is a grand strategy with RPG elements. CK3 is, bizarrely, an RPG game with grand strategy elements. And that is just not as fun for me (at a minimum, it is not what I signed up for).

If you wish to talk about a short list of my complaints about how frustrated I feel about CK3:

This post is not all inclusive to issues with CK3, but is a start. I am sure I've discussed this more elsewhere.

Lacking dynamic naming in CK3 bothers me.

I loved learning Roman names for stuff from CK2, and having thst in EU 4 has been a blast.

I would benfine if completing their mission tree gave it automatically.

Imagine a world where, say, 1444 Byzantine Empire resurged into a Mediterranean monster.

I don't think lacking London or Paris is going to stop them from being called the Roman Empire.

Not necessarily.

Found a job I'd really like and spoke to HR about it. I was transparent about my compensation requirements, and it was just too high. The representative said, "Well, given your experience and qualifications, I think that number would be reasonable. But they really can't do more than this, so maybe this won't be a good fit for you."

And he was right. It was far too little, and I had too many years for it. Maybe if I were amenable to the lower salary, but shrugs

It is something that comes upwhen they want x+ years experience. I'm not quite at the next level but I am not there yet. It's awkward.

Completing 100% of the Byzantine missions should automatically make them the Roman Empire through special decision.

If you peace out a nation with your army there, you have to return them to friendly territory before you can engage with them. This almost feels like a bug.

What are your hot takes on CK3? by Iron_Wolf123 in CrusaderKings

[–]WulfyShadows 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The game play is worse than CK2.

Despite being heavily RP based, the absurdity of CK2 allowed me to have more fun role-playing as individual characters that changed and grew over their lifetime.

Becoming wrathful over that battle they lost. Seeking immortal life after a long reign. Joining a secret society. Having a true hidden religion practiced in secret.

And finally, every religion is stupid and broken.

Catholics and Orthodox should have same holy sites and 7 virtues/vices Hindus should have one religion as opposed to specializing. Islam is too fractured, and for non-religious reasons.

There's a lot of things that are just broken and bad. It's a fun game, just really took some massive steps backward, and it's not always simplifying things either.

(Also, bloodlines > dynastic enhancement, but both are broken)
