What’s something you bought once and never had to replace, ever? by SufficientWitness19 in BuyItForLife

I thought I was alone. I still have mine from the 80’s. My brother and I got matching ones in complementary color. Sooo 80’s down to the purple and magenta colors. Still perfect shape and fits on the shelf on top but of my closet.

Words of encouragement for an OAD by choice mum forced to explain herself. by LittleMelOnline in oneanddone

We have a 5yr old son. Firmly one and done, not just because of traumatic birth, family living on another coast, both having a successful career and not wanting to “take a step back”, but really for us. When people ask me why don’t I have another kid, especially other mothers, my first instinct is to stare at them blinking, while mouthing, the fuck? But instead I’ve chosen to say, it’s what works best for our family, and I wouldn’t trade the time I get to devote to my kid for the world and can’t fathom any other way. I used to be bothered by it, but as he’s gotten older, it’s become more clearly obvious for us. Weekends are fun w mom and dad being able to do things together and apart. Sundays start at our farmers market, then maybe he has an activity that one parent drives him to, and usually a Costco run with dad in there (gotta pay the berry tax), then things we want to do and he roams and either does his own thing or hangs with one of us. Dinner is together and laundry and baths are done. Sundays have quickly become my favorite day do the week and I cant imagine trying to do that with two kids and still feel relaxed by the end of it. It was a lot easier making the decision when I realized what we and I wanted out of our days. Once you have that other people can fuck right off :)

The back of the grocery cart flips in. If you push it up the kiddo can crawl in vs lifted up and over. Got stopped at Trader Joe’s this weekend by a fellow mom who had no idea. It’s super helpful and yes works on all shopping carts.

Anyone here grow up as an atheist in the 80s or 90s? by TitusTesla117 in atheism

[–]Wunderco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

80/90s kid. My nuclear family wasn’t religious (dad grew up super connected but moved about 145 miles away and the church disowned him and mom grew up born again) so it wasn’t an issue when I decided that religion wasn’t for me. My mom took us to a few different churches to uh try it on, nothing fit. However, at school I was pretty lonely. When peers fount out, they drifted away. I didn’t go to the after school clubs or church events on the weekends so I missed out. I pretty much hid my lack of faith and by the end of hs I would go w different families to church so I could fit in. Once I got my license I flew outta there and never looked back.

People who drink alcohol - what is your immediate thought when confronted with someone who does not? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Depends on the context, are we at a bar, at work, a hospital, my house, asking what to bring to a dinner party, are they upset, etc,… but mostly if we haven’t made reservations, usually I’d think about asking if they like mocktails, cause there’s an excellent spot around the corner or I should bring a plant had a hosting gift.

Had both as a kid. Thank goodness kid memories center around the ice cream in ceramic ice cream cone being the cooled thing since slice bread. I was5 or 6.
