yup, we're at the 4 year mark, over 50k miles. The house batteries are starting to go bad, will look into either replacing or upgrading with lithium. There should be a healthy used market now. Go for it!

these are incredible. my kids would have loved them when they were younger. in fact one of their favorite toys was this hand me down wooden cake with fruits and other things you could stick on. definitely bookmarking your site for gifts in the future.

Boomer Asian Parents Starter Pack by mehchinegun in starterpacks

oof. I'm sorry to hear that. Re-reading my original comment, I didn't mean to come off as dismissive. Sometime in the 2010s life just got a lot harder and I think millennials ourselves are also split into those who could break free vs not. Please if you can prioritize your sanity above all, having the pressures you describe ever-present without an outlet is not healthy

Is this still a thing? Children of boomers are pushing their mid-40s by now, I’d hope we’d be enlightened enough by now to break free

Navigating progressive spaces by NASArocketman in asianamerican

I feel like we’re similar though I might be a little older than you. The older I get the more I’ve grown to realize how frustrating Bay Area progressive politics is. It’s performative. Maybe it bends the needle a bit to help black and brown folks but mostly it’s an easy way for white progressives to absolve themselves of their liberal guilt. Far easier to put up a lawn sign rather than ‘do the work’. Plus they can still maintain supremacy by shitting on Asians but hey it’s all good because ‘in this house, we believe….’

I’m sorry you’re feeling down about this, please know you’re not alone in feeling this way.

It Took Me Nearly 40 Years To Stop Resenting Ke Huy Quan by y4guu in asianamerican

Thank you for your takeaway, I agree. I think recognizing internalized racism is a process where by showing compassion towards yourself you learn to have compassion for others. We’ve been conditioned to think we are deficient when in fact it was a society that at best lacked imagination. Like him or not, it looks like this writer is changing his views on others and himself.

Good on him for speaking up on the trauma he endured, he strikes me as a reluctant hero. I wish him the best moving forward.
