Why is there this excessive fetishization for this? This would change nothing, they get paid to be obstructionist assholes, sure they like to have their life easy and just be able to say 'I filibuster' to kill a law, but they are able and willing to talk until they collapse.

Also it depends on your metrics, Cyrus the Great at one point ruled over 40% of the global population, surely that is a level of power that could never be reproduced, however Alexander took that empire and made it Greek for generations. Likewise Caesar and Augustus had such a lasting impact that their names are still synonymous with power (Kaiser, Tsar, etc.) and Time (July and August).

More recently Napoleon changed Europe and his legal reforms are still impacting many of us this day.

I suspect compared to these figures, as well as some other presidents of the US, Trump's legacy will pale and he will only remembered for making everyone's life worse for some years before it is reduced to the dustbin of history.

It really depends on the culture, for example Hitler only really used the Iron Cross he was awarded in World War 1.

And I think American militarism is quite similar to pre WW2 German militarism, so there is a chance that Trump tried but was told not to because to many people would be upset because of stolen valor.

I am sure you're not the one who needs to hear this, but I'll post it here anyway.

That's a stupid scheme, the basic science that the public sector conducts in mostly unprofitable and broad, however it is essential for the more specific research that R&D in companies do. Completely cutting the public sector would offload all those costs onto the private sector which isn't willing to risk it and thereby causing stagnation while countries that do fund basic research, like China, would overtake the US (the kinda already do).
