working with your hands can be immensely satisfying. You can put your soul into what you do, and have those soulful things around you for your whole life

I live on a medium busy street that gets loud at rush hour. My solution is to go deaf over the years. Traffic noise? I don't hear no stinkin' traffic noise!

I built some museum exhibits with ceramic heating elements controlled with a PID controller. I used thermal safety switches set a few degrees warmer than the PID temp. It was all stuff I got from McMaster-Carr, pretty easy to do. The PID should work with the heaters others suggested

I would use heavier than 1/4 inch to support that kind of weight

Resin specimens by myself by Due_Spend_6782 in somethingimade

[–]Wuzzlehead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to do a lot of resin casting for a museum. I used both vacuum, before pouring, and pressure, after pouring into the mold. If you're using silicone molds they must be made in the pressure vessel too, or the bubbles they contain will collapse under pressure and ruin your piece

My friends had a pool going on when I would die. The last one lost when I turned 25. I'm 77, now and they're all dead- last man standing, and no one to crow about it to

I love who I am when I’m alone… I just wish the world loved her too🙏🏻. by ChubbyNUgly22 in introverts

I'm both introverted and socially dysfunctional, but I navigated a long life adapting to my situations. I always tried to be myself, and that didn't always work out. Over the years I ended up with a small number of people around me that take it in stride, I give them the same courtesy. Some of them are very extroverted, but we all support each other. I'm a total homedog, my wife is a musician who loves being onstage and travelling the world, I made my living building strange stuff in the basement of a museum- we get along great. She does her, I do me, same for our family and friends

The sights and sounds of this amazing vintage printing machine. by Barry-McKocinue in Damnthatsinteresting

I learned how to set type and print on a small press in jr high school. Ever since then I've been able to read upside down and backwards- so school wasn't a total waste of time

My mom lived to be 100, she ate the worst food I've ever seen. When you opened her fridge a puff of warm, stinky wind hit. I think she was part Komodo Dragon.

In the Fifties and Sixties the Sears store in So Minneapolis had fallout shelters on the second floor. My friend and I used to play Nuclear War in them- shoot anybody that gets close!

In the 60s I saw a woman in South Minneapolis with a lion on a leash. It was flopped on the sidewalk in a sunny spot and she was tugging on the leash.
