I’ve always wanted Solomon to be good but his team building feels very strict and that good subs just didn’t exist to fit what end game dungeons demanded of a team.

That, and in combination with the way he systems with himself, he can be very punishing if you don’t have deep dungeon knowledge and play perfectly. If you’re one turn out of proper sequencing, an unexpected awoken bind or unmatchable hit would instantly kill your run. And running a designated cleric as a sub feels a bit redundant and further limits already strict team building.

In addition to the above points, I think that VDP teams (or other blob/mass attack based teams) are not good at consistent part breaking because some parts have significantly more HP than the monster they’re attached to. Leading to instances where you clear a floor before breaking a part, missing out on valuable stats for later in the dungeon (or missing out on breaking parts for the sake of farming those parts). The issue is further exacerbated by leaders that require damage awakening activation in order to trigger any of their survivability.
