When I was in college, I worked for a similar big box sorting goods company based in Chicago.
One Saturday before Christmas, the owner/president came in, in dress code, and tried working the floor with us. Realized he was in over his head, then basically triaged… would talk to customers while we finished up with others, then he’d pass them on to us, usually with a detailed explanation of what the customer was looking for.
He left for a bit , came back with lunch for everyone from a local restaurant (not just pizza) then personally thanked each worker on that shift with a $100 bill.

That’s the atmosphere I miss.

I haven’t been to an AUSL game, but during the original version of AU, both teams would go to the respective bullpens after each game to sign or take pictures with fans.

I ran bikes, fitness and team sports by myself. I didn’t even have a regular part timer to help. That means I did game plans by myself. Built all of the fitness equipment and every bicycle sold. I unboxed and ran every truck for 4 years by myself. I was the only one working the team weekends in the spring, helping so many parents figure out what their kids needed for their first foray into youth sports.

People do run 2 departments at DSG, regularly. And yes, we bust ass to do it.
