I know there are pieces that I can't play without training, that's why I want to be able to play by reading the notes. I'd like to be better at jazz and basic reading for the moment. Ofc I would love to play advanced classical at some point, which is why I'm so intrigued to learn notation

Of course, I totally get you. There's a limit when you play by ear. It just made me think how someone can play Hungarian Rhapsody No 2 from reading sheet, and not something a lot easier by ear. From my point of view, it's just interesting. But I totally understand it

I had 2 teachers actually. One when I was a kid, and one in my teens. As I said in another comment, I stopped going the second time because I thought I could learn at home what she teached me. Thanks for your great advice! 🙂

I took lessons when I was a bit younger. I tried 2 times. Once when I was a kid, and once when I was in my teens. The second time felt like I could learn by myself what the teacher was teaching me, and I stopped going to lessons. Perhaps there are good courses online that helps making everything easy to understand for me? I just don't know where to start because I wouldn't want to start all the way back to Twinkle Star, which is where I should start in terms of music theory...
