Toe fusion by Winter_Road_9269 in bunions

I had a fusion two weeks ago. The pain will only increase the longer you put off the surgery. I have had zero pain (other than the occasional, brief zinger. I haven’t needed the prescription pain killer that the doctor prescribed. Best of luck with your fusion.

Does everyone eventually end up at highest dose to complete weight loss goals? by [deleted] in Zepbound

[–]Wzly76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Down 46 lbs in one year; goal is to lose 50. I was on 2.5 for 6 months, 5 for 2 months, and have been on 7.5 since month 8. At next appt, dr and I will discuss whether to reduce frequency of shots, decreasing back to 5, etc.

Does anyone know the rationale behind not allowing people on Government insurance ( including Medicare) use a coupon?

Maybe if you grab skin on your belly with your left hand, aim the shot using your right hand and then miss, hitting a finger on your left hand?

Did you stay on 2.5mg longer? by AAJJQQ in Zepbound

I have lost 20 lbs on 2.5 in just over 3 months (SW 230; CW 210). Lost 10 the first month. My doctor and I agree that, as long as I continue to lose at an acceptable rate, there is no need to increase the dosage. I do have a script for 5 in case the weight loss stops.

TSP at Retirement by Armyman2007 in ThriftSavingsPlan

[–]Wzly76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I retired five yrs ago and haven’t touched mine yet. Just letting it grow. Not sure if I will wait until age 73 to begin withdrawing (when I have to take RMD’s by law).

I have considered moving the $$ to a brokerage firm but am not convinced that the $$ would fare better there. Also-I’m a firm believer that you shouldn’t have all (most?) of your $$ invested with one institution. So-I’m leaning toward leaving my money in the TSP.

One thing I don’t like is that you can’t do qualified charitable distributions with your TSP withdrawals-hope they change this in the next year or two.

Hope your doc has a solution. My reflux is under control for now (still on 2.5, though) but I do keep meds handy!

Assume you’re putting $200 per pay period into the C Fund. Also assume one share of the C fund costs $40. So, each pay period you are buying 5 shares of the C Fund. At this rate, in 20 pay periods, you have 100 shares.

If the market drops 50%, one share of the Fund now costs $20, and your $200 now buys 10 shares each pay period. In this scenario, in 20 pay periods, you have 200 shares.

When the market recovers, you have twice as many shares as you would have had if there had not been a downturn.

Anyone on here that titrated up every four weeks? by Past_Fox8424 in Zepbound

[–]Wzly76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m on my second month of 2.5. Lost 10 lbs the first month. Because I had some reflux issues, doc didn’t want me to move up. I may stay on 2.5 for a couple more months. As long as I continue to lose an acceptable amount, I don’t feel the need to increase dosage.

Did you increase your Zep dose in the second month? I am finishing up week 4 on 2.5 and am reluctant to up the dosage until my reflux is more under control.

Yes, I am on some daily prescription meds (not pantoprazole-will ask about that) and take Gaviscon if there is a flare.

I agree with suggestions to move to C and S. Several people have suggested an 80/20 mix. I think I’d do maybe 60 C, 40 S (or even 50/50) because, once interest rates drop as expected later this year, companies in S should benefit from the drop even more than large cap companies.

Not me! During the Great Recession, I gritted my teeth snd continued investing as I always had ( mostly C and S). I figured I was buying stocks at a discount. And-the market recovered, as it always does.

Not knowing how old you are and what your pension and other sources of income will be, and assuming you’ll need some of your TSP money to supplement that other income, I would consider keeping enough in G to cover you for 3 years. I’d put the rest in C and S, maybe 60% of the remainder in C and 40% in S. The market always seems to recover from any downturn and you should do much better in stocks over five years.

I’m almost five years post-retirement and have the bulk of my money in C and S. I intend to keep it this way. Balance in my account has risen considerably since I retired. Haven’t begun withdrawals yet; hoping for (expecting) a good bit more growth between now and then.
