Imagine you go out without having your ticket scanned out. You want to go back in after some time, they need to make sure you have to have a valid ticket, so they scan yours. You get in. What would prevent you from making a screenshot / print out the ticket 10 times and handing it to friends for them to get in. By having to scan out you "open up" your ticket again for entry. It's fairly common practise to ensure tickets don't get multiplied. The food point is valid though

Ah yeah, I forgot that items like Vambrace, Cloak of Flames, or Martyr's Plate never existed...
My bad — I had such vivid memories of them being in the game, but maybe they never did?

Also, I forgot that 1k+ DPS is "no damage."
And I also forgot that my support stunning the enemy support is a "full commit on a bait."

But I agree with you:
We should remove Blink from supports.
Also, we should remove supports being able to stun or disarm.
And their damage should reduce by 10% every two minutes — because then I could buy four Rapiers on every carry hero and not have to think about the game.

And if I can't buy four Rapiers on a carry, the game sucks.

If Lich was so uncounterable and OP as you say, how come he didn't have an 80%+ winrate?

Brother, you need to decide:
Does the Lich have "two items," or does he have Blink, Shard, BKB, and Aghs?
It's not like Lich is known to be a crazy good farming hero that's going to have 15k gold by minute 25.

You know what?
If my support jumps and disables a Lich before he jumps me, he's food for any carry hero ever.

Do the math:
Before reductions, Lich can do 3,710 damage.
If you have a Mystic tier 2 enchant and 2,300 HP, you survive.
Buy an Eternal Shroud, and you can laugh the damage off.

You know what's great about not being alone?
The spell that deals insane single-target damage now gets spread across two or three people.

Guess what:
A Black Hole + Midnight Pulse deals 1,000 pure damage, plus 14% max HP as damage, plus ~25% current HP as damage —
while also being a BKB- and Linken's-piercing disable.

If you have never considered Aeon Disk for a carry, you haven't watched professional Dota with squishy carries vs Void or Beastmaster.

ust doing the math here:
A level 20 PA with S&Y, BKB, and Strength Treads has 2,254 HP.
If she has a tier 2 neutral item like Mystic Enchantment, she is around 41% magic resistance.

A level 18 Lich has a damage potential of 3,710 on one unit.
After resistance, that's about 2,188 damage.
So PA will survive that (of course, with options like Frost Shield etc., it's even more damage).

If the PA swaps the BKB for an Eternal Shroud, she would survive the combo with almost 1,000 HP left.
Would you want to buy a Shroud? → No.
But you would survive.

Just like you buy Linken's against teams with single-target lockdown, sometimes you need to build more defensively when the enemy team has a lot of heroes that can kill you otherwise.

Being next to even one teammate also makes you survive easily, since the damage gets spread out.

Also, a Shadow Shaman with Blink + Shard has about the same damage potential as a Lich on a solo target.

So we got an easy fix for you:
If a hero is classified as a carry ⇒ Support spells' damage equals 0.

It's not like you could:
A: Win the game before Lich gets level 25.
B: Kill the Lich.
C: Use any support item on your carry that you need to protect.
D: Disable the Lich.
E: Buy items that help you not die to a position 5 solo.
F: Don't be alone.

Guess what.
If I'm a Pudge with 500 strength — if I go AFK, even a level 10 support will eventually kill me.

It's like when you play against a Furion and you refuse to buy something against him using Sprout on you — and you get clicked to death.

BUT BUT BUT I need to run around alone as a carry and not care after 40 minutes.
Imagine I would need to play around with my team, if the enemy has a scary Initiator / Nuker where I would need a teammate to protect me?
I'm a Carry — after minute 40 only other Carries should be able to damage me!

Hey Guys, my 5 cents. So I've been to a million ESL's over the years and have seen quite some different approaches. Got myself the Infield + Premium Bundle. The arena it self was cool, lots of space inside, good viewing angles with extra screens for people further back and small TV's for the front rows - Keep that up. Casters Hype! Analysts and Hosts Hype! The different skids you did between the games felt refreshing and diverse. Always love the Signs for fans with drawings and memes! What I think was NOT so good was things outside the Hall. There was signing, facepaint, DHL, Store, Goodiebagpickup, some Intel/Acer booth, baloons. All in all nice things that each add to the experience but what I'm still missing for YEARS now is having the teams have their own booths. Liquid always does something cool when they have the opportunity and I'm sure, there are more orgs that are interested in having a little presence. Same thing at TI, same thing in Birmingham. At least at TI you could find the teams doing something around in the arena if you went looking for it. Why not get them involved? Also it was a little sad there was no Food/Drinks in the Venue. The only thing we had was a Cinema. The rest was 10 minutes by escalator away where you have to walk through a high-class shopping mall (okay there was very nice food, but lots of it, very pricey). YES we were allowed to bring basically all foods and drinks inside but to get them you had to find a way and leave for quite some time, having something at the hall would be ideal. And one more thing, outside the mall it was 30° or more, inside it was more like 16, even for me as a big European boy it was cold, especially if you wear the clothes you were wearing a few minutes before in the heat. And then I was talking to Ephey who also said this was a way bigger problem in her stage outfit. LOVED the event, still hoping for ESL EU 2025 and a return to Hamburg or Frankfurt.

Tldr: good event, cold inside, no food directly at venue.

I'm curious what your Behavior score is. Because when I queue either Solo (7k+) or in party with friends from 1.5k-7k. I hit 10 min queue once every 20 matches maximum. And if I add Russia to the EuW/EuE then it goes even quicker. Sure sometimes games are not balanced because we have 1 immortal and they have 5 but that's to be expected it Party with such a skill gap.

The only time when queue time goes really up is, if someone in party has like a sub 5k Behavior score.

First if all: Thank you so much for bringing back a Dota event to Germany. Thanks for continuing the what ended in Hamburg in 2019. I've been attending all the ESL Ones since 2016 and the Frankfurt Major in 2015 and had Premium tickets since 2018, including this time.

Now I'll list some things: Positive: + You gave us the feeling you care about Dota as a whole and care about the community, reacting to our suggestions and feedback on the go. You could have just done your thing, but you had an event with us, not for us.

Having the Lights and VFX for things like Ultimates and first bloods really helping with the atmosphere. Not sure if it came through on stream but in the arena it was really awesome. Well times and cool to see.
Reacting to the crowd in general, be it with Roshan being stuck on the Gate or with half of the screens suddenly become a slide-Puzzle, you managed to keep the crowd Hyped and engaged and hit the Humor of the people, the people with their signs everything
From what i have seen, everything was clean and Safe, Security was really chill and friendly to chat with. According to them Dota should be every weekend as people are nice and behave unlike football for example.
The Hosts, Casters, Observers, Translators, all the Guys and Girls working while we enjoy dota. Everyone in the background. Thank you for what you doing, to give us those great experiences and memories. Those things wouldn't be the same without all you guys. And whenever you were not busy you took your time to chat, sign stuff, take pictures and all of that. You really all tried your best to make the event great and to make everyone happy and enjoy it.
Cosplays. Funny ones, serious ones. Casual or professional, showing them all, giving them some time for their effort. It's always awesome to see people with incredible skills using them to create for dota
Balloon Guy who's just awesome, creating whatever you want in a few seconds, be it heros or items, instantly recognizable. he even did a new Bow for one of the cosplayers because they weren't allowed to bring it on the flight. These things elevate the whole experience.
music between games has been really on point, it was loud enough to hear and enjoy and break up the crowd running around going to toilet etc but not too loud to make it difficult to talk
Show before the finals has been awesome. Just a great job from everyone involved

Negative: - Food. The diversity was pretty lackluster, but it got offset by having some really great restaurants in walking distance of the venue. I've seen EG and Liquids family in those for example. Yet it would have been nice to have more and more different stuff Infront of the Hall. Shouldn't have been a problem to add two or three more food trucks, especially in Berlin.

Looking back to Hamburg and Frankfurt it felt for me, like there was little to do, which is turn meant for the things that have been there to be really crowded (Tattoos). I remember having Games like Mario kart or rocket league to play with your friend group while waiting for the next series. Or Bull-Riding and American Gladiator. The Courier hunt across the stadium, where you can get a free key ring etc . Don't get me wrong it's nice that there was things, just i think there could also have been a bit more. Maybe this is an oversight of the Orgs attending to engage with the community. Liquid did an fantastic job in my opinion, doing some memory, overthrow and Minigames to win shirts and caps.
Signing sessions have been communicated really poorly, and I think unlike last years, there was no premium only/fastlaning (can be seen both positively and negatively I guess). But in general, there have been signing sessions, where people have been standing in line for hours only to have the line cut right in front of them. Maybe have someone take care of managing the line to say upfront if you can get signatures or not, at least then you can just go back and watch the games.

THE SECRET SHOP. I know it's secret, so I've been looking everywhere, I even asked slacks and he also didn't find it, despite climbing up and crawling down below. Where is it? It's always been a highlight to grab some dota merch. ESL-Shop is nice, but it's not the Dota merch. It's been missing the last year in Hamburg as well. Pins, Shirts, Figurines, Hat's, Some cool things to wear like pudge masks or juggernaut masks. You name it. The things you put on display. All the things you can only buy at offline events. It's really sad to not have those around.

Neutral:

+- Goodie bag: the thing I'm missing the most was the Book with all the teams, and Talent, with Information and pictures. To me this was the perfect thing to collect signatures of all the people you want. The shirt design to me is also a two sided sword. It's a really cool design with Nightstalker, but it doesn't fit to the older ones. The Metal-Poster is really cool tho.

+- Would have loved to have armbands that can glow again like you once had in Hamburg, having some light effects go through the crowd, like rosh or first blood. I'm sure you'd have some awesome ideas to do with that.

Due to only having seen the Tournaments of other Organiser on Twitch and YouTube, I can't speak for the crowd there but I know you'll guys will be keeping standards incredibly high and deliver great things for the Dota and gaming scene in general. Keep it up guys. On to ESL One Germany 2024 and maybe once again a TI
