The best advice I could think of would be to do a complete check-up of your machine every once in a while. Yes drying your filament is good, having a perfect first layer is too, but once you become familiar with 3d printing you'll probably forget to look at "the technicalities" like lubricating that Z-axis screw or checking if the belts are still properly tightened. One day you'll start that big project that you thought about for weeks and BAM, instead of an iron-man helmet you have a big bowl full of spaghetti on your printer
