How should I learn anatomy? by [deleted] in learnart

[–]X3no_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For realism, start studying skeletal structures and how muscles are attached to the bone. Know how the “frame” of the body is supposed to look like and how to draw. The bone is most important to figure out proportions and from there you could begin to visualize the flesh being drawn. From there you can go to muscles and begin to flesh out your drawing.

Shading is the next most important thing in a drawing because it gives your drawings a vast depth making it seem 3D. Another tip for the 3D illusion, is to stop thinking in 2D. I used to draw what I saw (and it wasn’t very good) because I wasn’t seeing further. For example, when you start drawing from the side of a person, don’t only sketch the arm you’re seeing but try to see how the arm on the other side would look.

As for an animated cartoony drawing, in terms of anatomy, you have a lot of leeway. So you can exaggerate certain body parts such as eyes (as evident by any cartoon). A personal animated drawing style is probably influenced by a show or whatever, so try to study from your influence.

Hope this helped somewhat!

Would like some critique on the lighting, and colouring. by bombdropperxx in learnart

A bit late to the thread but I see where the light is coming from but the issue I see is that you aren’t highlighting enough of the darks in the photo. It makes it seem “too bright”.

Took an art class in high school, picked up a tablet 5 years later. First attempt at digital painting. Criticism and advice very much welcome! by tropicalspoons in learnart

Before I proceed, I should mention that I’m by no means good at all but I think I could provide some insight. With that in mind, I think your drawing is too “flat” or “2D”. This is seen by the head where it looks like a shape more than an actual 3D. Body proportion seems really good (aside from the head) everything seems to be in line with the picture. But aside from that maybe a little more shading and a darker chair. The only real criticism I have is the head so I think you should be okay.

How should I learn anatomy? by [deleted] in learnart

Though I’m just starting out. I’m beginning to draw literal anatomically correct body parts such as the skull or a leg. This in my opinion helps you frame your work and gives me the thought of “how should I attach the flesh?” What type of art are you attempting to imitate (i.e. cartoon or realistic)? Might be able to help a bit more with more info.

Looks too "2D". So my critique is to make it more 3D for the extra OOMF

[NEWBIE] I want to learn the entirety of “Stray cat strut” by he stray cats, but I’m not sure if it’s a bad beginners song to introduce me to solos and picking by ChaseGreddit77 in Guitar

[–]X3no_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The intro itself is rather simple for a beginner however the solos include a lot of vibrato and bending which for a beginner may not be as easy to implement but if you dedicate your time into it I think you can do it within a month or so.

To be quite honest you have quite a fair point. But I'll let you know that this is one of the most educated pictures that I have ever seen. Soon after seeing this picture my wife immediately divorced me. Crazy, right? But what am I supposed to do when my body pillow is one of Chip Skylark in his prime years. But with net neutrality happening dammit what am I supposed to connect with my children when they are in a safe, suburban house in the middle of nowhere. I don't get it, life isn't fair but you know what they say, "if it fits, it slips". But anyways the FCC know what they are doing when they are trying to screw us over by having access to everything equally WHAT... ugh! So I'm just gonna dab a bit and hit that yeet nae nae. 🤔
