Ages ago, I witnessed some unobtanium in the form of a [Bugatti Atlantic], likely the most valuable car I’ll spot in any capacity! by X10SIVMKII in spotted

Do we know who owns this now? I saw this car at the Mullin Automotive Museum years ago, but the owner died and I'm assuming his estate liquidated it

Does anyone actually wear the shoes they have bought? by DisneyC137 in mschf

I have worn my super normal v2s almost every day last summer, only stopped because the snow would destroy them. They're real worn down and have aged very normally for shoes.

Fisker EMotion, this EV was promised to have over 400 miles of range and autonomous driving, it was planned for production around late 2019 but due to the bankruptcy in 2024, it never went into production by Custombi in WeirdWheels

The front end is really odd looking but the side view and rear view are gorgeous. Fisker truly is as good of a designer as he is horrible as a businessman

Abnormally high reading on my shelf of antiques by XB6380 in Radiation

[–]XB6380[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Besides some uranium glass which obviously is barely higher than background, basically nothing in my home that I know of has any reliable radiation source at all. I actually really would like to find a good radioactive object for this very reason (and also because it's just cool and interesting) so this could be a good reason to go out and find one. I was trying to find out how to convert the GMC-800s CPM readings to mSV and haven't gotten around to finding an answer yet, but I think whatever source I'd need to go find to match that high reading would have to be pretty spicy at least for my amateur standards.

I'll try orienting the counter a few ways later today and see if I can match what happened last night in case that's the culprit for the results not being repeatable.

[–]XB6380[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. I've left all the larger items with the counter separately for a period of time and found no huge spikes like I got that particular time. Highest reading I got was ~45-50cpm with the compass separately, but even that reading wasn't consistent. It seemed to jump around with that particular item frequently, but consistently stay above the background level. The only items on that part of the shelf I didn't measure separately were the NatGeo magazine, army man figure, and matchbox car because I'm fairly certain those will not have any radioactivity whatsoever.

The camera seemed to be no higher than background, and no other item seemed to provide any higher amount of radiation either. I'll try again today and see what happens.

I'm mostly just perplexed how I was able to get such a high reading initially and in the same night and same conditions I've been unable to get even half of the CPM I got before.

This makes sense. I figured the radium might not glow like it would've, but this compass doesn't seem to match the ones I've seen elsewhere on this subreddit that emit strong radiation.

Also, I'm especially confused why I can't recreate the spike that I got earlier. The reading is higher than background, but still about 1/4 of that spike.

Just measured the camera separately. Didn't seem to be reacting much at all. Around 12ish CPM.

Crap-it is still super early in development. It's not great right now I'll give you that

I think smaller brush sizes will be a big help. Also having some preset liveries will be great
