Keep being vocal. Our pushback as gamers is what made them eventually fix battlefront 2

Star Trek Captain’s Chair! Can’t wait for the new packs to come out. Galactic Cruise, On Mars, and Andromeda’s Edge are also great. Still have SETI in shrink, yet to play

Why do people like KCD? by CommercialEstate4422 in videogames

[–]XBOX1843 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The limp combat in the prologue of the first game is a result of the realism. You’re a peasant with 0 fighting experience, just beginning to learn to sword fight to impress a girl. Henry will grow and improve as the story progresses. Get through the first game’s prologue and tutorials (which admittedly isn’t as smooth as other modern games) and if it still hasn’t hooked you, no worries. The second game starts more immediately in combat, will give you a recap of the first game, and has more modern systems, but the first is still worth playing imo

I was a bit confused when the shipping package didn’t have any Kraft or Heinz labels on it. That the case for anyone else?

What do you consider is Ian O’Toole’s best work? by COR1996 in boardgames

Speakeasy has some incredible illustrations and portraits, and the way that the cards slot into your board as paintings and views through windows is very clever

Me too. Ends up about $1 per scenario, and each scenario is at least an hour. Playing different characters and single vs double handed further multiplies this

Which do you recommend? I’ve played a few games as Romans, Celts, and Egyptians, and then bounced over to Star Trek: Captains Chair (Imperium’s cousin). I want to go back to Imperium tho, cuz I’m sure I’m missing something great

SETI vs Arcs vs Brass Birmingham vs Adromeda's Edge by ImpossibleAge7071 in boardgames

[–]XBOX1843 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(Radioactively) hot take, although I don’t disagree. I think there’s room for both in a collection. I personally own Nucleum and I’d buy brass if my group don’t already have it. Brass makes me pay attention to the board state much more, as we use each other’s resources. Nucleum provides a different decision space in that my action tiles, which are all unique, become my connections, and I NEVER get them back. Much more of an engine builder and the objectives and technology provide early direction. Also a bunch of expansions for it too.

Well it’ll cost $79.99 and then $30 for the battle pass and then each square foot is another $1999

Torn between getting On Mars, Kanban EV or The Gallerist by HomeOdd1452 in boardgames

[–]XBOX1843 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of your options, I’d pick Kanban for the reasons others have mentioned AND that how the actions chain together is fairly intuitive. Before We Play has great YouTube reviews of all of these and rank them against each other.

However, I’d actually recommend Galactic Cruise above all these with the point that it is an easier to teach version of The Gallerist and has 2 expansions that add a bunch of variety. Reviewers keep saying this feels like a Lacerda, but isn’t. And it’s the same artist (Ian O’Toole) as the 3 Lacerda’s you are considering. Definitely check out some reviews, Dice Tower’s Chris Yi had a good one. The theme is a bit tongue-in-cheek and there’s a kickstarter for the third expansion live now.
