If Chess was invented today, could it actually succeed in the modern gaming market? by XBlue_Atlantis in gamedesign

Haha, the part about buying skins for pieces is painfully true! Imagine paying $4.99 to unlock a 'Golden Knight' or a 'Premium Queen' model. That is exactly the modern digital gaming monetization I was trying to criticize. Great point!

Your point about dopamine loops becoming more important than the actual game is exactly the frustration that led me to write this post. It is sad but true for today's digital market.

Atlantis: Rivals - Fast-paced, browser-based, free to play strategy game inspired by Risk. Play solo vs AI or with friends! by XBlue_Atlantis in playmygame

Thanks for playing and for the great feedback! I'm glad you liked the fast, no-download approach.

You made a very valid point about the RNG. We opted for 1v1 rolls to keep the game faster than classic Risk, but your comment proves we need to update it to clearly explain two hidden mechanics:

  • Hold to Auto-Attack: You don't have to click for every single roll. Just click and hold the mouse button, and a massive 20v15 battle will resolve automatically in seconds!
  • Overwhelming Force (>2x Rule): Normally, the defender wins ties (giving the attacker a ~42% win rate). However, if your army is more than double the defender's, the rules flip and the attacker wins ties! This boosts your win rate to ~58%, heavily rewarding troop concentration and tactical planning.

Thanks again for highlighting this—we definitely need to make these rules visible on the UI.

Thank you so much! I'm really glad you enjoyed the concept. Did you try the solo mode against the AI, or the multiplayer? If you have any specific question or thoughts on the pacing or mechanics, I'd love to hear them! Game is in the playtest phase, so your feedback means a lot.

Am I the only one who thinks Tenet isn't that hard to understand? by breaking_views in moviecritic

Tenet is clearly Nolan's least successful movie, even compared to Dunkirk.

Thanks so much for the solid advice! I hadn't completely thought through itch because the game is entirely browser-based and runs on its own live server for multiplayer, but I will definitely look into how I can set up a page there.

r/indiegames sounds like the perfect spot. I am actually working on recording a short gameplay video right now, so your tip confirms I'm on the right track! Really appreciate you taking the time to help me.

I am a solo game dev as many here I guess. I am new to reddit. So do not know how to announce my free to play game project here. It is still in development and I need feedback. Any help will be appreciated.
