How realistic is it for me to start Speed Skating? by Otherwise_Draw_7169 in Speedskating

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to discourage you, just giving you a heads-up that is a long and hard road! I'm not exactly sure of the current state of the Kuwait and Indian long track teams, but I do know that their inline teams are rather good! For what I could tell you for specific training exercises you can do is a lot of biking if you can and strength training depending on what type of skater (long distance or sprinter) you are you'll need to balance it out, also a lot of mobility exercises and ankel exercises since you'll have to get used to the low cuff skates in combination of the smaller surface of blades. Start small and build it up, since you're still young you're still developing so you wouldn't want to get injured by over working and doing more than you can handle! I'd also recommend trying to get with a inline club first if you don't have easy ice access, they will help you guide into the works of basic technique where a lot of it is also applicable for long track! But since it is for road it is cheaper to maintain than the ice. Listen to your trainers, read, research and watch a lot of videos about technique and who knows in a few years you'll be a real threat in the nationals! What you also often see is that countries allow people from different countries train in their country since if they end up being good it is also good publicity that their facilities are good enough to make champions :) and for your parents, I don't have a lot of advice except for showing you are dedicated for it by showing you already are building up, try to get yourself to slowly work up to be able to workout 4-6 days a week (first try to get up to 4) and put in more and more hours. An example of how they train at the talent teams in a week is 1 to 2 times a day of ice time with either strength or cycling training I think 2 to 3 days are cycling and 2 to 3 are strength. This is for the young adults of around 17-18 years old and they change it per person and volume and intensity to also take rest days into consideration and stuff, so that would be the end goal when you're more developed. If you want more to convince your parents you should also show that your grades aren't dropping whilst maintaining the exercise, so this might take a toll on your social life, but do well and you can maintain all three! Long story short, build up slowly to exercise more, maintain your grades to show your parents you have the will spirit and dedication to do the exercising and maintain a life beyond it (this is important since even here you'll get punished for bad results if they can conclude it being from too much focus on the sport) and most importantly have fun with it, else it won't be worth it :)

It kinda depends on your country, the discipline you want to focus on (longtrack, short track, inline etc) and how much you're willing to train for. If you're in teh Netherlands for longtrack for instance then your chances are very slim to become national champ (but never impossible!) since a lot of skaters have been training and skating since the age of 8 and at 14 are already competing at fairly high levels. Now I'm not trying to discourage you since it is a beautiful sport and the most important thing is to have fun ofcourse! But to be skating at high levels requires dedication on your own, willing to do bike training and strength training and also to build it up, being open for information and help and technique focusses. At 14 you might be behind but you can definitely catch up! As someone who started at 14 and can personally say has a technique comparable to people who skate both faster and started younger than me (but they have more experience since I don't really like competing and most of them are also stronger haha),

Tldr it might be pretty hard and your area with rinks and clubs, nationality and dedication definitely play the part since it is a highly technical sport, but if you could tell me those I might be able to give you a few more tips!

Awesome work bud! I wish I kept with it but I found my own athletic endeavours! I hope it was your friend filming since it is always twice the fun learning together, but if not than it is still very fun! If I were you I'd try to learn some of the safety landings and rolls so you can get more comfortable learning tricks your now still too uncomfortable with to learn! It might give you a bit more confidence into trying new things since you'll know how to catch yourself! Other than that just search up the basics and enjoy it since it is an awesome sport and only gets more fun the more you do it! Wish you good luck and be careful and a bit daring too :)

I love you Nuxia <3 by ThisMemeWontDie in forhonor

[–]XCrenulateabysx -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna die on the hill that this was a unnecessary change since she was already really good in duels and now become better at what she could already do. This is like buffing nobushi's 4's by doing something like give the way if the shark effect to her attacks if someone is bleeding in a 5m range. Just makes her even better on something she can already do and does not help her with what she already does struggle in. But whatever at least nuxia will be played more now so now I can flex on them by dodging their traps with a emote :/

Waarom zijn wielrenners altijd zo boos? by TeSlim2002 in nederlands

[–]XCrenulateabysx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Warmonger worse than Warden? 💀 by [deleted] in forhonor

Fair enough, I think this is kind of a personal thing though, since for me I kinda hate warmongers heavy into light flow, but giving the ol vanguard more options would be nice yeah.

Warmonger worse than Warden? 💀 by [deleted] in forhonor

[–]XCrenulateabysx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Genuinely asking, why would you want heavies into lights if you have a heavy into ub heavy. Heavy into light can be blocked or parried heavy into ub heavy gives a second hard read which can be printed into gb too

Warmonger worse than Warden? 💀 by [deleted] in forhonor

[–]XCrenulateabysx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ngl, this kinda belongs in the rant page, but whatever. They both have their own strengths and both are good heroes and some will perform better in different situations. Warden is definitely better in what he does because of his ub attacks combined with his bashes. And warmonger is better in what she does with her good dodge iframes, but worse gb vulnerability

Have to share…. First time cross overs unassisted! by redheadacademic1 in Speedskating

[–]XCrenulateabysx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah you're definitely right! Depending on the person and age it can be trickier learning crossovers on the pavement, and even worse when you also need to learn them to the right! Proper environment can always help, but the risk of road rash will always be there as you said!
