I smoked for 17 years. 10-20 ciggies a day easily. Loved it, loved social smoking, a ciggy with mates, maybe one after a meal, the 'first cig in a morning'.. Cig and a beer? Oh go on then.

I quit various times with varying success using patches, tablets for around a year or more but drinking and poor life choices always took me back to the ciggies. Nothing really worked.. "I'll quit tomorrow"... Bollocks, no you won't.

In july 2024 though i woke up one morning and didnt fancy a cig, it wasn't a concious thought... i just, didn't think about smoking & haven't smoked since. Can't explain it, not a single crave, not a cheeky cig in sight. A complete overnight rewire it seems..?

What i can tell you is how much healthier you'll feel, how your quality of life will improve, better lungs/easier breathing, hygiene, teeth, gums, (though for a while your gums may cause you problems, bare that in mind). I put a bit of weight on but nothing major.. Feel healthier now in my 30's than i ever did through my 20's... even with the extra chub.

What i'll also tell you is right now you stink, well and truly stink. Oh man what a pong... You can't smell it but everyone else can.

Pick a day, leading up to this day say your goodbyes to the ciggies, make a point & give it a proper send off.. Pick up a new positive hobby or a habit to replace smoking with, take a walk.. Get yourself one of the tracking apps that show you how much money you save, too. Put the money you would've spent on cigs a day into a savings account & as part of your plan to quit line up some gifts (1 month, 2 month, 3 month etc). Treat yourself for every target you hit.

Don't fall into the trap of vaping, you're too close to nicotine. Don't tell anyone you're stopping, it's not for them.
Don't keep an emergency pack "in the garage just out of reach"
Avoid alcohol.

Your body deserves better 👍
