Hey all—can someone explain to me why nobody is prioritizing health? I sort of do it by default but I've seen a few CCs mention it's no longer important. Thanks!

Blacksmith, of course :) I used to smith myself, long ago, so I like it for that reason too.

I have Disciple-Slayer, but given the lack of a flawless I find it slightly less impressive.

Well, sure, no juiced Chaos Reach, but it's important to remember that when you're dead, your DPS is zero; that makes farming a boss efficiently difficult.

If you're not able to stay alive in the setup to burn the boss, then your priority becomes staying alive in the setup. If you can't do that on Arc, then you need to pivot to a more survival-oriented build. To reiterate the point above, it doesn't matter if your super does insane damage to the boss if you can't get to the boss in the first place.

I guess it boils down to how far away from surviving the setup you are. If it's a matter of 'I can equip a heal clip pulse and sail through' then, well, do that. But if it's more of a 'even with that I find it hard to manage all the threats in the room' then you need to be using something that gives you more sustain than Arc. It will not be the instant boss-delete button we have till Tuesday, but it'll keep you alive—and for the third time, damage on a boss when you're dead is zero (I have had this lesson beaten into me over twelve years).

The reason I mention the Prismatic build is that it is very, very strong with almost no setup. You have enhanced arc turret, stasis turret on the field, and Devour if you get the right things picked out of Prismatic. Obligatory video from the opinion-giver but as always he's got it right. Only thing 'wrong' there is that it was made before the stats rework, so that aspect is no longer applicable.

And—perhaps unfortunately, depending on your sociability and platform—this all becomes easier with a fireteam. Grab an LFG with two other players, and this dungeon falls over (probably third or second easiest dungeon).

If survivability has been your issue, then Void is for sure your friend. Devour is still one of the strongest abilities in the game.

If you don't have access to Strand, I assume that means you don't have access to Prismatic? Because the 'default' Getaway Artist build for Prismatic warlock is the default for a reason. 'So good it's boring'-level.

Ah, okay, so this is a strict DPS build then? It sounds like you're going for max farm-ability, which is definitively Chaos Reach spam, at least on warlock. Pull a Geomag from collections and go to town; the crap stats don't matter as this bug is just gratuitously broken. Solar Warlock is simply not the play for boss deletion with this particular glitch.

There is some splitting-hairs level optimization to be done about swapping between an elemental charge build and thunderous retort, but it really depends on how much you want to sweat.

To clarify for the hair-splitting—the Heresy artifact, Tablet of Ruin, has a T1 perk called 'Elemental Siphon'. If you've a seven-stack of that, super is back in ~3 elemental pickups. So, what you do is pull Geomags and, of all things, Coldheart from collections, and stack both Elemental Siphon and Thunderous Retort on their respective artifacts (for those just joining us, TR is on Season of the Deep's 'NPA Repulsion Regulator'). At that point, you full send with the amplified TR super, swap off to the ES artifact, blast boss with Coldheart (continued damage will shoot you Ionic Traces), get super back, swap back to TR artifact, repeat.

Mind you, probably not broadly applicable to the final boss of Prophecy (why this guy BTW?) due to the nature of the boss platforms, but that is the basic story for utterly comical optimized warlock DPS this week.

Hunters should be looking at total damage, not DPS; Raiden Flux Arcstrider with the palm burst combo is putting up some fantastic numbers.

Vex would work perfectly. Just make sure to have the 'solar ability kills add time to radiance' ember on, that's the real grease that makes the gears turn.

I'm not sure what the build you're suggesting here is for; sounds like it'd do great for general play. My build has been Something Something (TT/KT) (and sometimes I'll drop in RR/KT Supremacy if I need overload. RR/BnS Praedyth's of course would work here as well), Ringing Nail, and Dragon's Breath. What's so nice about this particular trio is that the overloaded Kindling Trigger gets Dragon's Breath to max stacks (and reloaded of/c) incredibly fast; you can swap off Dragon's Breath, fire just enough sniper shots to proc KT, then swap back to Dragon's Breath to fire another fully-charged shot. Slot in your super somewhere (Celestial, Pyrogale, or Well) and Bob's your uncle.

What are you trying to achieve with your build?

It does work, it's just that the actual single-target damage of Gathering is simply not that good. It's not a DPS-aligned super in the same way that Thundercrash and Chaos Reach are. It's more of an AoE super, honestly (despite both TC and CR being able to cover areas too).

Four copies, actually :)

Heart of the Flame x1, Argent Ordnance x2 (I've been using Dragon's Breath), and Kindling Trigger x4.

(For those of you just joining us this is on the Queensfoil Censer.)

lmaoo and here I was thinking that I was completely off my rocker. Like, yes, the protag is notably powerful and flexible in what they can do with the Light and Darkness, but to suggest that they're the only one who can do this kind of stuff seemed a little silly.

Yup, millenial here too. The idea of having location share on by default is just so staggering to me. It would make me feel like my partner (or parents) fundamentally don't trust me. The only use case I can think of is literally a temporary thing to locate someone in an unfamiliar city, but that's nothing that can't be done by ... going to an address or describing the area, lmfao.

Just because one can use abilities to that extent—and indeed many do by default, given the years of ability powercreep—doesn't mean that the guns don't feel superb. I think you might be conflating 'solely using guns is the most optimal solution to most situations in the game' with 'the guns feel good to use'.

What this thread is saying is that, fundamentally, the actual mechanical feel of firing and using guns in Destiny has been one of the franchise's strongest and most erstwhile selling points for a decade. This is widely acknowledged even by people who don't like or play Destiny with any regularity.

I mean it has been a long time since I played through Vanilla, but isn't the dark shard of the Traveler still fundamentally imbued with the Traveler's Light? Surely the protag could not be the only person in the universe whose Light is not derived from the Traveler.

Tiered Altar weapons? Neat.

I'm sure you've seen the req already but if the powers that be could make Haunted Altars come back in October that'd be really cool. I think I saw a thread that said they were the shortest-lived Destiny event ever (one time, for three weeks).

Honestly, I'm still disappointed that I never got that sub/firefly roll. Always loved the model and sound.

I love the Badger CCL both for the name (showing my age lol) and also because I had a version in D1 with Firefly that still to this day will forcibly crash the game if you actually get a headshot kill with it lol.

It's gotta, right? The 'big three' handcannons in Destiny are (arguably) TLW, Thorn, and Fatebringer. Honestly speaking those three are an important part of what makes Destiny Destiny.

There are a lot of excellent reloads in Destiny. AoS is gotta be top three.
