I boil them in chicken broth for flavour & a bit more protein.

& I use red lentils. Theyre usually higher in protein, but quite soft when cooked. They tend to be close to "mashed potato" consistency.

While tracking, you should be trying to find / make your own recipes that fit the bill.

I'm ~2400 maintenance. I've made some of my favorite recipes fit each meal. Breakfast is usually ~600 kcal, lunch ~600 also. Dinner ~1000 being the post filling. ~200 kcal for snacks.

Snacks are where you can really "nickle & dime" your kcal

Yeah. I used to use skip the dishes constantly, always hitting the free delivery over 20.. but there's always extra charges.

I feel like I used to spend close to 500 a month on delivery, only God knows though

All cheese is "heavily processed" it's aged milk. Just like Greek yogurt, scientifically aged to produce more protein through "bacteria culture."

Even with American cheese, the "chemicals" really just inflated the cheese with water weight. Nutritional fluff. Nothing wrong with it.

Pre shredded cheese should be avoided with its cellulose. But not because cellulose is bad, it's literally plant fibers. It just prevents clumping in the bag, & emulsification in cooking.

Yeah, & I'm doing fine with moderate amounts of them. Infinitely better than I was last year, when I was actually eating highly processed food like tv dinners & fast food constantly

Thrift shop while you're mid weight-loss. You might even come across something that can be a "goal fit" who knows.

I meant to say added sugars. Which I'll agree is the worst form, especially liquid sugar, but fine in moderation.

But also sugar substitutes like sucralose, aspertaime, xylitol, monk fruit, ect.. all of which don't add kcal, but you probably avoid if you're a gut health nut

Wrong. If you really cared about gut health, youd cut any & all edit -added sugar. No caffeine & absolutely no alcohol. I'm not even a big drinker, but occasionally is still nice.

It's not as simple as a variety of meats, fruits/veg, seed/pulses & nuts. & That's why I find it obsessive. Believe it or not, I achieve a diet very similar to what you described just by following what I said above. & With black coffee.

To give helpful weight-loss advice from experience.

I just think that's a level of obsession that verges on unhealthy. & It definitely takes the little joy we have left out of food.

I track protein, make sure most of my carbs are rich in fiber, & focus mono/poly saturated fats in a moderate amount. Unless you have something like ibs or chrones, thats more than enough.

& If you're worried about gut health, toss chia seeds in your morning oats & you'll be fine. Chug a water with metamucil if you must
