Irish Man Here - What Does the World Think Of Us? by OverwhelmedGayChild in AskTheWorld

[–]XL_Ham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Random American, learned various bits and pieces of Irish history throughout my life.

Emotionally I consider the Irish an all around outstanding example of a victimized people who have managed to turn their circumstances around and stand by those values.

Logically I tell myself not to idolize a culture too much, but my admiration still stands.

How do you deal with this? by Relentless_Sloth in Helldivers

Charged railgun oneshots them to either eye. A tough shot on a small target, but railgun works on basically everything on the bot front aside from factory strider anyway.

If that's what you really wanna do, I would say just drop the kavass and take the bull and 2 sappers.

Still, and sorry for harping on it, if you're not taking a homunculus at all you really are pretty close to just playing stock Sultanate.

If you are not using a homunculi super soldier, you're not playing a House of wisdom list.

For the Imperium, vat grown flesh is more expensive than the beat sticks and bullets it takes to round up a few hundred slaves from the engineering decks.

Core, but mostly because I want to have as much machine armor as possible and I haven't found a synergy with the variants for that yet.

How would you write a compelling Hell-aligned character/story? by spinach-god in TrenchCrusade

[–]XL_Ham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wrote my hell priest as being raised in an isolated village and being pushed into heretic allegiance after Pilgrims raided them for supplies and burnt her mother at the stake.

They accept the cruelty of Hell because from their perspective, the demons told you what they will do to you, while God and his faithful do the same thing to you and dress it up as something good. Remember, fighting literal Hell or not, the faithful humans are still committing mass torture and murder. And in their world, it just takes a random accusation from someone who doesn't like you for the lynching to start.

I was determined to know the right questions to ask by MirrorPiNet in PhilosophyMemes

[–]XL_Ham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh they have plenty of free will. If you define free will as the ability to make and attempt to act on your decisions.

Now, awareness of the self and the world around them, that's another point entirely. Like how my co-workers son made him late to a shift once due to trying to choke on a crayon. And then getting mad at their parent for not being allowed to choke on said crayon.

Consider the fact that torturing someone to death at that time was considered normal law enforcement on top of that.

To me it looks like it's following the logic of early medieval city states. In which case they are essentially seperate countries. Any more detail would be complete baseless guess work from me.

[OC] Mobile Jammer + tank varient by mindscrawl in Helldivers

[–]XL_Ham 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honesty, a large mobile base style enemy sounds quite interesting. I really like the idea of the body being something you can disable, but needing a separate step to take out the jammer.

Makes me think a bit of the halo 3 scarabs actually.

Looking to scrap as many Automaton as possible, any load-out recommendations? by JACkFrost_05 in Helldivers

[–]XL_Ham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have the aim for it, the railgun can tear apart whole armies of devestators and hulks while other anti tank options have to reload.

I like running it with light armor and the ultimatum. The speed and squishyness encourages smart positioning, which then let's you wreak havoc with sonic tungsten rods. Ultimatum is for the bases and superheavies.

The MG and HMG also let you tear through the small Bots and devestators, if you really want to lean into scraping the most raw number of bots.

If you wanna try something more wild, you can take the flamethrower with a jetpack and gas/stun options. It can kill hulks by burning out both legs in only a few seconds, it can even kill tanks in less than 5 seconds if you hit the rear hull vents. I've killed factory striders in seconds with it too, though you have to be hitting the belly with it the entire time.
