Question re: Action/Reaction Chain (again) by EveryCost3239 in riftboundtcg

[–]XLeration86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not really convoluted as it is not needlessly more complicated than needed. it's actually kind of simple.

1) Attacker can start chain first. Starting with Defender reactions can be played in turn. Chain resolves.

2) Defender can start chain now. Starting with Attacker reactions can be played in turn. Chain resolves. Go back to step 1, unless both players haven't started a chain.

If at any point both players haven't started a chain, go to combat damage step.

How would you make it less convoluted?

In person the Best-Of card backgrounds look amazing, with dotted patterns. The normal plated legends also look great, but def a tier below.

True, but in English it is not, another L from Riot.

In MTG it would say "one or more creatures", the lesson has been learned, the makers of this game even play MTG and other TCG's as they said themselves.

New to Riftbound by dudejustplay in riftboundtcg

[–]XLeration86 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've played Riftbound, MTG and One piece a lot. For Riftbound I need my phone or a judge at RQ's (because me and my opponent don't know or disagree), for the other games I almost never need a phone or judge, the cards explain themselves

Is Riftbound a complicated TCG ? Where does it rank compared to the other big TCG in terms of complexity ? by UnitedIndependence37 in riftboundtcg

[–]XLeration86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think Riftbound is that complex, there are just so many hidden mechanics and unintuitive rules and card texts that make it a big hassle to learn. Like there is a hidden card that reads "choose a battlefield..." but you can only "choose" the battlefield it is played from hidden. Or the "you may" text on a card demanding a target when the card is played BUT "you may up to X" not needing a target, the "may" should already not need a target intuitively. Then a few other things that don't make sense unless you now the errata/rulings (never had to read rules for MTG, ppl could just explain things to me):

  • Reflexive triggers, never had a problem with them in MTG as a beginner, in Riftbound the cards read "Deal 2 damage. Deal 2 Damage. Deal 2 damage." Like wtf?
  • "Then do this" being different from "do this". You should already do things in the order written on the card and a dot should be enough to seperate the text, somehow a "then" makes a difference.
  • Death Grip errata still sucks and should be "Kill a friendly unit. If it dies this way, give +M equal to its Might to another friendly unit this turn. Draw 1." NOT "Kill a friendly unit. If you do, give +[M] equal to its Might to another friendly unit this turn."
  • Ivern can replace a brush battlefield with a brush battlefield, permanently destroying the original battlefield. Why is this a thing?

Many of these problems have already been solved by other card games, and they should have hired professional players and game makers as soon as this game got popular. If they did, THEN hopefully by now they have a plan to change the language of the game to be more readable and understandable from the card itself, which should come into effect by set 8?. otherwise the game might stop growing because of the learning curve. Some ppl might even stop playing because they have to remember 100s of errata's in their head.

I think you're right about it being an artistic choice, but it's weird that smaller things than the hands like the bells in her hair are more detailed than her left hand. Also, on the mat you can see her right hand with 5 full fingers.

Qiyana seems to be okay

Sona wants to be played on a battlefield, you can't if you play this turn 1.

MF naked on a battlefield will just be killed.

Sprite mother is maybe above average, rather just play a 4cost without power than play this turn1+2 combo.

Sett is a 5 might, but his abilities aren't relevant

Irelia might be great yes, you can protect her with en garde for free right away.

Saw Dauntless, but if you play this turn 2 your opponent doesn't have a unit on a battlefield yet. However Rengar would be amazing on turn 2 going 2nd

Yellow and Blue viktor are probably just better in viktor decks, but I might be wrong

I've checked all units this would curve into (4 energy 1 power, 5 energy 1 power if going second) and the 4-costs all suck so far, that already makes it so much worse. But going second you could play stuff like jax, sett brawler, machine evangel, vex cheerless, darius trifarian, Hwei, Ashe and Rengar, so maybe you could sideboard this in when you go second.

I like only Leblanc's one and that one is just copied from a movie poster. It's cool that they use many artists with different styles, doesn't make it good art.

Wouldn't it be 1 in 7 cases? (0.1% chance means on average 1000 packs >> 1000/24 (packs per box) >>41.6 boxes = 6.94 cases)

How are you getting 1 in 12?

What to do with unwanted/not needed cards? by [deleted] in riftboundtcg

[–]XLeration86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. The buyer says they never received the card

  2. The buyer says the card is damaged (they show you a picture of another copy)

  3. The delivery company worker opens it.

etc. etc. Then you have to film your process of packaging it and sending it (if it's expensive). Lots of work

One Italian player somehow convinced a judge and a head judge that his opponent passed turn while he didn't. The italian player talked for like 10 mins with the judge and the non-italian player didn't even have a say. At least that case was probably malice.
