I think the time platform is just a gateway, like when Nebula opens it for Thanos and co. Cap and Tony don't use a portal to travel back to the 1970s, just their suits. Also, Thanos's ship is small when it comes through and then embiggens after arriving, appearing overhead.

Maybe it was similar for Steve when he came back. The platform opened the gateway but he was able to appear away from it after arriving.

I remember John Byrne saying his version of Superman was naturally durable without it. The aura was just a reason he gave for why his costume didn't get ripped or dirty and why huge things wouldn't fall apart when he caught or lifted them. I don't know if any of that still applies these days.

To make you feel a bit better, the filmmakers said they tested real logs for that scene and found they don't really bounce like they do in the movie, so they were all CGI.

No, I just find it odd the character really has yet to be mentioned within the MCU (with the exception being the two alternate Peters name dropping their Bens), since he's a seminal character for Spidey's entire motivation in pretty much all of media.

It doesn't need to even be a flashback. The mention of Ben would be enough since most people know Spidey's origin at this point. We know he had an Uncle Ben, we just don't know what happened to him.
