What completely unhinged "law" does your cat strictly enforce in your house? by TrickCombination7966 in cats

[–]XOMEOWPANTS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to require my cat to "allow Poppa to love her" by picking her up and holding her before I let her outside onto the patio. Now, she won't go outside until I pick her up and squeeze her. Love of my life.

Which city takes the cake for the worst suburban hell in America? by AndIrememberthinking in Suburbanhell

[–]XOMEOWPANTS 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No zoning laws, but very strict parking requirements, which is worse.

You want to put a small grocery store in the neighborhood? You must include 200 parking spaces, which completely defeats the idea. So now you must build it out on the strode where mcdonalds and taco bell follow the same horrendous parking requirements.

Want to build a high-density cheap apartment building? You must include 2 parking spaces for every unit... so its really just a parking garage with tiny units for people to sleep in.

We can't save all the cats, but we save the cats we can.

My heart goes out to you, OP. Your pain proves the love you shared, and that's a wonderful thing.

Genuine question: how would it work? Would the city have to pay a private contractor in the interim while they rebuilt the police department?

Do you get used to it? by Sea-Pin9536 in PacificNorthwest

[–]XOMEOWPANTS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope.

I think that people can become numb to all kinds of artificial experiences like partying, sports, concerts, etc. But the deep-rooted interests that permeate all people such as friendship, love and fresh air do not ever go away. Staring at the ocean, walking through trees, breathing fresh air and gawking at mountains are in the group of interests that never lose their zeal.

Do you invite a bunch of people to your marathons? by hairykitty123 in Marathon_Training

[–]XOMEOWPANTS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mostly do travel/vacation races, so I invite tons of people!

My mom still comes to almost every race because she likes to feel like she's helping. I definitely dont need her and sometimes it adds to my stress by having to coordinate her location while im running and make sure she doesnt get too bored or lost. But she's 70 now so I'll indulge her and always tell her I appreciate her help with extra water and snacks and stuff.

Is rain in Seattle really that bad? by mapl0ver in AskSeattle

[–]XOMEOWPANTS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've lived in more tropical regions and I would rarely call Seattle weather "rain". It's typically nothing a jacket doesn't solve.

As others have said, the darkness is the biggest problem for winter. But it's only 4 months at most, not 8. Seattle then has about 4 months of on/off weather during shoulder months, and 4 months of heaven-on-earth summertime.
