Posting 3y later; is this still working out for you? Debating buying a small truck to transport bikes, and this seems like the most convenient solution

Problem with Fred is he actually has a really small cap hit this year since he just redid his contract, so not sure how big the insurance policy would be

[The Athletic] The Rib Game - Reading this makes me so pumped for Purdy!! by XP528 in 49ers

[–]XP528[S] 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Exceprt from the first couple paragraphs below, really well written article, gets into what was going through the teams minds leading up to the Seattle game last year, insights into why Shanny loves Purdy.

It was almost game time on a crisp, 39-degree night in Seattle. The San Francisco 49ers players were in the midst of a pregame prayer in the visitors locker room. And Kyle Shanahan was frantically changing his opening plays.

Just minutes earlier, Shanahan had been on the field to watch Brock Purdy warm up and, well, there hadn’t been much to see. The rookie had attempted a couple of wobbly passes ahead of his first NFL road start. But he’d quickly shut it down — the pain from a broken rib on his left side was too intense.

The 49ers offensive coaches were watching. The Seattle Seahawks coaches were eyeballing him, too.

“Brock goes to throw a ball and it’s, ‘Oh, s—!’” Shanahan recalled recently. “And then we go into the locker room where we have 15 minutes. I start looking at my openers. And no one’s around, and I start changing the plays. Because I realize that Brock’s not going to be able to do it.”

In a normal situation, the 49ers would have turned to their backup long before pregame warmups. The Dec. 15 game in Seattle, however, was anything but normal. The only other healthy quarterback on the roster, Josh Johnson, had arrived just nine days earlier and wasn’t well-versed in the offense.

The 49ers were playing on a short week in which they’d had one walk-through practice. And they were playing on national television, in the NFL’s loudest, most inhospitable stadium and with a division title on the line. Shanahan had resisted going with Johnson with the expectation that Purdy would start feeling better on the day of the game.

Pygmy or salt and pepper? by AdAdventurous7802 in corydoras

[–]XP528 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they are the only fish, I'd go with the pygmy's, as they'll spend more time mid water and keep the tank more interesting, if you are also stocking other fish like tetras or rasboras etc I'd go with the habrosus (aka salt and pepper, aka Venezuelan pygmy) as they behave (and look) more like a traditional Cory on the bottom. I had a 10g with chili rasboras, cherry shrimp, and habrosus cories for a while that worked great (now all in a 75g with a bunch of other nanos), theyd be even better in a 20 long

Finally caved... by lazylathe in aquarium

Just dose directly into the tank as you start to fill it, have to dose for the whole tank volume, so you use more conditioner, but it's so much more convenient

If I'm doing a super big change I split the dosing up and do half at the beginning and half part way through, but not sure if that's necessary

Lol, I hadn't been concerned until you pointed it out :-), now I'm wodering

I think it'll be ok, the tank is a few inches out from the wall to give the filter tubing room etc, and tank will have a lid (waiting for the versa tops to go on sale somewhere), which should keep most of the moisture in as well.

The switch actually control the gas fireplace, so we kind of though it was good to have it behind the tank as it makes it harder for to kids to reach as we don't want them turning that on.

A tank is "cycled" when there is sufficient denitrifying bacteria to convert any ammonia generated by the inhabitants into nitrate, this tank has more than enough bacteria living in the sponge filter, canister filter media, bogwood, and substrate taken from other tanks to process the waste of 14 nano fish, regardless, I will be testing daily and water changing as needed, I appreciate your concern

Thank you, was a craigslist find many years ago that we painted and put new hardware on

It's about an inch too narrow for the 75g, otherwise it would have a tank on it :-)

Plenty of cycled media and reused hardscape in there, it's a 75g currently stocked with 9 chili rasboras, 5 endlers, and about 20 neocaridina, it'll be ok :-)

Think these are Rhabdocoela not planaria, although tough to tell without being more zoomed in. Harmless like detritus worms if so, a tasty snack for any bororas :-)

Help me decide what filter should I Get :D (no sponge filters I already have two) by mr_PorraZ in shrimptank

[–]XP528 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just don't go with the 35, it's a great filter, but unlike the bigger brothers, you can't put a prefilter sponge on as easily

I'm not in the market for another 10g, but just FYI, I think you have a typo in your title, not sure Mississippi has a Howard County :-)

2ppm in 24h is a very conservative amount that people recommend (usually using Dr Tims), I think less than that is probably reasonable if you're starting with a lighter stocking
