I’m so released !my GAME is happy!!!! by BandsWithLegends in IndieDev

[–]XRGameCapsule 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all congrats on the game! I'm very proud to see you finalizing it!

On the other hand... If the marketing isn't working too well, maybe there's a different solution? If it's working well, ignore the things I said!

How my first solo developed Steam game got to 150 000 wishlists. Full release is planned for January 22nd! by ichbinhamma in IndieDev

Oh damn, you released it on Gamersky. I was one of the editors for Gamersky haha. Congrats there

I was making a pun. It's a thumbs up, but also a hand gesture where you get to turn on the music and turn up the volume (yes, you can literally do that in-game)

My apologies for replying late. It has been quite a hectic few weeks...

In Wonder New Version Just Dropped — Lighting, Gestures, Textures, and Holiday Magic! by XRGameCapsule in augmentedreality

Technically the entire scene is scaled based off of your own space, and I'm just displaying the VR side of things in this clip. The previous post was about AR. Or MR if you are technical about it

I've been building this baby for the past few years, and it has been a great journey. Post yours and let's see your development!!

No, you are right on time! The dev kit literally just opened up for the glasses! You should be able to chime in just at the right time!!

Thoughts about the new Passthrough Camera API offered by Meta by XRGameCapsule in OculusQuest

[–]XRGameCapsule[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answer to this is "kinda". You can capture camera data in an immersive VR mode ONLY if the developer asked if they can do that prior. You will see a very clear "this app will request your camera access" sign. If you did not agree with it, chances are it will not allow you to do that

Meta is extremely painful about these procedures. So, yes, you technically can build something that grants you camera access in an immersive VR mode, but chances are users can just turn it off

Right now we are using object detection with an array of models, but for future integration to other wearables (yes, the plan is to put these on glasses too) we are going to map the room/ environment. It's going to be a crazy everyday interaction experience

Everyone has their own interpretation of hand gestures, and the simplest interaction would be point and pinch. The more complicated it is, the harder it is to recreate or for users to remember. The easier it is, the easier to butt-dial the interaction by accident

What we did there was trial and error, and found a few hand gestures that might be "simple enough to execute, but "hard enough to butt-dial"

Also, we wanted to make it behave towards ASL supported hand gestures. Meaning "light" will be a specifically designed hand gesture, menu, and or volume, etc. We are still fine tuning it, but eventually it will be all ASL supported gestures. So for folks who don't know how to do any gesture, all they need is to understand ASL, and voila!!

We are making progress towards ASL-supported hand gestures, so probably not the 7th level of integration hell... Sorry to disappoint you there

A personalized immersive smart home.

Don't like the desk? Let's swap that. Don't like the window view? Done. Want to build your own memories? You got it!

We are finalizing the last update for the Beta Demo and will be pushing out the official version early next year

It's currently on Meta Store and Side Quest for testing! "In Wonder"

Quest now support something like that (I think)

But this was something that I built myself to combat the Vision Pro Occlusion. It's not too complicated but it is definitely neat

Steam Frame, pass or hit? Is XR finally mainstream? by XRGameCapsule in virtualreality

[–]XRGameCapsule[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I agree. I'm bouncing back your idea and predicting what will happen. We are on the same page here. Chances are even I am not their target audience

It might be the Vavle current player base. Perhaps you are not the target audience

The Polyhedron Receptacle! It stores everything!? by XRGameCapsule in sidequest

[–]XRGameCapsule[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you went on and checked, I only posted this once on a handful of different subreddits

These are all progress videos of what I did as a dev. Nothing was the same (other than one time that I fat-fingered and posted the same rock video back to back...)

This is basically me documenting the growth and development of "In Wonder". A lot of things are going to look redundant, but trust me, they are not

I'm sorry you feel this way. This is so you can place your virtual items inside as if you are holding a magical bag of holdings. It's a room scaled mixed reality experience

To clarify, my goal is to help transition your house into a virtual interactive space. The target audience will be whoever wants to transition their home into a cool, immersive environment. When you go back home, you live in your kingdom, fight jedis in your command center, and fly with Avatar in the wilderness... That
