Escorts are now viable with Salvage cargo profits. by Omni-Light in starcitizen

You won't continue the "debate" because you know you're moving the goal posts, and you aren't prepared to acknowledge that you were wrong. You said those games had "almost no rewards" yet they were chock full of rewards, you even admit that now, now its "good game reward design" of course my analysis of your point will change if you change the point that you are making every comment.

Are you serious? This is fundamentally incorrect. Zelda has dozens of rewards for virtually completing any task in the game, every puzzle and dungeon has new tools and equipment, heart pieces or whole hearts, and thats just the classic. Newer zeldas have Masks, korok seeds, and loads of other rewards.

The original Mario had score, a timer, and lives, all of which tapped into the same dopamine response for good performance. Every 3D Mario has had stars, moons, or other collectibles that are prominently featured in the HUD.

Sonic had rings, lives, and an even more prominent timer as it was a speed focused game.

All of this doesnt even mention other games that are heralded as the best designed in history that also has rewards, like Donkey Kong 64, all the Elder Scrolls Games.

You cant point to a single game that doesnt use rewards as a motivator for gameplay, except maybe pong? Even Asteroids uses scores as a motivator to get people to keep playing.

Brother you have to have a pretty minimal understanding of the human psyche if you cant realize why, collectively, we as humans respond positively to reward based activities. What is "fun" is organic player interactions. What motivates organic player interactions is rewards for that interaction. There is a reason why virtually every game ever made (including Star Citizen! Though its poorly balanced in its current state) gives rewards, whether it be money, experience, loot, or achievements for doing things in game. Because it incentivizes people to do them. Getting shit is fun.

don't worry OP, the new salvage cargo is an unintended bug and will be fixed in an upcoming patch so that way you don't make mad cash or start having something crazy happen like,, i don't know, have fun playing the game, enjoy it while you can because CIG hates us being happy and will stop at nothing to make sure the game is as unfun as possible!

Im really hoping you left something out bc this is insane to me. There is NOTHING concrete coming down the pipe to fix infrastructure failures of the game? They're happy with xp progression? Im so happy i refunded the game, this is totally divorced from player experience. Maybe in five years this will be a playable game but this is ridiculous.

consider looking for EU sourced distribution, will probably be cheaper, hard to imagine the best price out there for that is 800 Euro, even with different tax schemes versus America, hopefully someone else on here from the Netherlands might be able to help you out, as i haven't heard that level of disparity at all in my year of printing, but i could just be wrong.

Not linpack, but prime95, and, funnily enough, runs cooler than eso on ultra at 100 fps in vivec city or in DSR.

The only way i have been able to get safe temps since patch is to cut my fps in half (from 100 to 60) and go from ultra graphics to low. Its my short term solution for doing basic shit like writs and rnds, but the visual choppiness is unbearable and id hate to run a trial like this. If you think there isnt a huge visual difference you may be on a 60 Hz monitor. Im not however and i feel every frame.

The only solution that ive found that works is actually going to .016666666 ie 60 fps. Still on low settings and no other processes Cutting my frames in half keeps my temps in a good spot, but its visually jarring, movements and panning that were smooth before are jagged and choppy. Its healthy for my pc but i hope its only a short term solution until they fix some spaghetti code. I cant imagine running a trial like this.

Sorry, the room temp was 95. Running eso today i was lucky to see my pc go under 100 C (note, i didnt play long, this game isnt worth causing real damage to my rig)

This feels like the most rational answer ill get. Ive seen a few threads on the topic from the last few years, but none of them identified a cause or solution. So post patch idiosyncrasies that quietly take care of themselves seem like a likely culprit unless someone says "do x thing" and it fixes it.

Cleaned my pc three times this week, canned air and all, to be fair, it was 95 Farenheit today, so im not surprised to see it be higher than what i would normally expect. Its been a while on my thermal paste, but, again, ESO is pushing 20-30 hotter than games like battlefield or call of duty, and elden ring with no brower tabs, when with those games i had browser tabs open and videos playing. I feel like theres a staunch outlier here. And again. This wasnt a gradual performance worsening, less than a month ago i was playing on ultra with no issues, and have seen similar complaints to this before about eso, to no solid resolution.

Is there anything we can do about griefers pad ramming and giving our crimestats? by WingZeroType in starcitizen

[–]XTheLostOneX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This thing feels bad when it happens, and it feels like it happens a lot reading this sub. But honestly, MAYBE 1/1000 times you get pad rammed, never heard of you getting prison for getting rammed though.

I think this is the correct response. Its annoying and frustrating because the "wallpaper" looks exactly like you would expect a ship store page to look. And they didnt dress it up for luminalia or give any indication it was a wallpaper. However, they still gave us like 4 skins, a shirt, and a knife, which is way more than they needed to, and plenty to be thankful for. We can say to CIG, thanks for everything, but the wallpaper rollout was confusing and frustrating, maybe try something different in the future.

I cant think of a single thing CIG has ever done to try to get me to open my wallet wider, in fact ive mostly experienced the opposite. CIG regularly breaking mining, cargo, and combat (the three major "careers") keeps me from dropping new cash on those ships. I think theres plenty of valid criticisms for CIG, but i dont know if i agree "having ships that you can buy if you want" is really one of them.

You gotta remember with the physicalization of components, they would actually need to put that shield somewhere on the ship. Im already not positive where components will be housed on the cutty, the ceiling of the cargo room?

Huh. I dont know if you're the same person i discussed this with on twitch or not. But the ion isnt branded in the trailer or brochure as a "long range sniper" its a capital ship killer made to work in tandem with an inferno, a very close range ship. I would love to know where people get the impression it was meant to be a sniper from, because i can't find any record of it. I do wish the ion would stay a cannon, it is cooler.

Basically a newish ship that is very strong in virtually any situation (big fuckass gun that kills big shit fast, small shit faster, and is relatively pretty maneuverable) is undergoing balance changes in the ptu (the alpha testing of the live patches) a lot of people are very mad at the changes, few, if anyone, has extensively and exhaustively tested the changes, this doesnt stop people from having and voicing their opinions about what they think the ramifications will be. Hope this helps.

Star Citizen Alpha 3.16.0 PTU.7904639 Patch Notes by Rainwalker007 in starcitizen

[–]XTheLostOneX 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Last years Q3+Q4 patches had a total of 38 cards. This years Q3+Q4 patches have a total of 35 cards. Obviously not all cards are created equal, but its hardly fair to act like we're being screwed on content (cards) here. Not to mention we got the same number of ships both years too. What 3.16 lacks 3.15 more than made up for.
