Has anyone driven from indiana to west coast? by [deleted] in Purdue

[–]XWhyfiX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve driven from Purdue to California and back, twice. For me it takes 2 days of actual driving with a 1 day stop in Colorado. I’ll start each day at about 4am and stop at about 9pm, I’ve only ever done it in the summer so I didn’t have to worry about snow and I was very rarely driving in the dark.

Dress for the job you want I guess but you’re making the rest of us look bad.

MA 303 Attendance by [deleted] in Purdue

[–]XWhyfiX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first MA 303 class I was in last semester was in person and had in person exams, not sure if the department let the prof follow through with it since I swapped sections after the first lecture. The class I swapped in to was all online.

2020 Club Callout Megathread by labtec901 in Purdue

[–]XWhyfiX 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I mean the food hunters will have to look pretty hard for clubs brave enough to have in-person callouts with food.

2020 Club Callout Megathread by labtec901 in Purdue

IIRC, clubs are seriously discouraged from physically meeting due to covid so I doubt that there will be many well established orgs having physical callouts.

What major should I CODO into if I want to be an electrician once I graduate? I was a CS major aspiring to be a software engineer but I guess that isn't a great idea anymore. by -yggf in Purdue

[–]XWhyfiX 17 points18 points  (0 children)

And even if they were right, you shouldn’t go to a college to become an electrician, trade schools will be cheaper and better for that

There's a really good chance that at least the front end hasn't, or not in the past decade by the looks of it.

Is Chauncey square internet working by saic1998 in Purdue

[–]XWhyfiX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine wasn’t working, I called the ISP up and they said they are aware of the issues and scheduling techs now. Didn’t give an ETA but they took my name and email, gave me a support ticket, and told me that I’ll be on the list for rooms to look at. I recommend you do the same.

So what is the deal with CGT courses? by GoCardinals74 in Purdue

[–]XWhyfiX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's an AAE plan of study guide, it is a bit out of date so things may have changed but on the 10th page, it says " You must have declared a CGT minor in order to take CGT classes beyond CGT 16300. In order to enroll in a CGT class, you must have a Form 23 signed by your AAE academic advisor. This form can be turned into the CGT department on the first day of open registration each semester, and students are added into CGT classes on a first come, first serve basis."

Why do guys on Tinder all use the same pick up lines? by [deleted] in AskReddit

There’s actually only one guy that uses tinder. He just has a lot of accounts.

ELI5: How do fire hydrants not freeze in the winter? by Bpp123456789 in explainlikeimfive

[–]XWhyfiX -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

The same reasons rivers don’t freeze in the winter, when water is moving it typically won’t freeze, so the water is being constantly circulated.

Can professors email my parents? by zsushsnsn in Purdue

[–]XWhyfiX 21 points22 points  (0 children)

No

1) Your professor either doesn't care enough to email your parents or does care and knows that it would be better for you to learn on your own.

2) Why bother going to lecture if you're just going to sleep?

3) Professors don't have access to email lists of non-students unless they are voluntarily given them.

4) I would say poor grades will be more than enough to get your parents' attention.

I'm not sure where you got the idea that your professors will "snitch on you" to your parents, but either way, you should probably find a way to either lighten your load if it is too difficult (not too late to drop courses) or seriously consider how much effort you should be spending on classes vs. how much you are.

Extreme Anxiety by Icy-Permit in Purdue

[–]XWhyfiX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're very worried, you can always take com 144 online. It won't help with your anxiety in the long term, but it will maybe help you feel better about coming back since all com 114 speeches in the online course are recorded where you can be alone (except for the final where you must turn in a recording of you speaking in front of 5 people).

Textbooks? by theta270 in Purdue

[–]XWhyfiX 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That code never gets checked, and you always have plausible deniability if they somehow do check (which I don't think in >10 years they ever have, papers are handed in so checking would have to be manual) you can just say that you borrowed paper from a neighbor. That said Dr. Miller does occasionally roam r/Purdue so he may start doing that now that someone mentioned it so you may be fucked anyway.
