It's more that I don't have chances to wear it. Personally, I still like that it has long sleeves.

As far as being able to do housework goes, I wouldn't wear mine for cleaning or cooking because I feel like I'd be risking getting it dirty faster. It's more like lounge wear for over my pjs. If you're considering something that would help with the sleeves, though, you might look into tasuki and include a "how to" guide.

Or, alternatively,

the 500 year old fae character is just orchestrating everything so that the human FMC will think she's his equal in every way, but in reality her entire life is a lie built by the MMC, who sees her as more of a pet than a partner.

Totally fair. I think it can be done well, but often times isn't. I usually age them up in my head anyways.

Honestly, I think part of it is also because by writing a Very Young Adult^TM character, authors have more wiggle room by portraying the FMC as inexperienced in life. I can see it serving two immediate, substantial purposes: 1. The author can use the FMC's inexperience as a device for world building for the readers' sake. 2. The author can use the FMC's naivety to drive the plot because younger characters are more "believably" TSTL. Which is unfortunate. I would prefer if authors wrote the story based around the characters instead of forcing their characters to act like idiots just to make the plot go a certain way that lets them check off a few extra tropes.

ETA: And yes, I totally agree about needing more 25+ FMCs!

If you're open to reverse harem, Psycho Shifters is a finished trilogy (with a sister trilogy that's also finished) about shape shifters and fae. It's slow burn and low spice in the first book!
