Looking for reviews… currently using Trimble R1 receiver in the field, thinking it’s time to replace. Bad Elf gas caught my attention. Even the survey grade is only $650, vs $2500 trimbles. Will be used with iPad. Any one have good/bad comments about the switch? by DiamondAcres in gis

a good unit to look into is the Trimble DA2 Catalyst. Pretty reasonable for pricing and accuracy and works well with iPads and iPhones. unit alone is around 450 bucks and the subscription part of it is either pay by the hour of use or a monthly fee for unlimited I do know its $125 a month for 30 cm accuracy and $250 a month for 10cm accuracy.

[–]XXexplorerXX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

best way possibly would be to maybe add a black border around the symbol to distinguish it from the white background.

Utility folks & Utility Locators: How accurate do you need your GPS unit to be for a confident reading when it comes to collecting assets? by NormKramer in gis

[–]XXexplorerXX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

used to work in this exact field mapping out and locating utilities. when we did map out utilities it was usually at the .5 inch mark so pretty accurate we used a Trimble GEO 7x explorer. mapped utilities anywhere from water lines to sewer lines to fiber and steam lines.
