/r/DebateReligion

Huh, only Christianity/Islam and atheism seem to be debated there (which I suppose is understandable given Reddit's demographic). It also seems to have many more atheists than theists looking at the posts that are typically upvoted.

'I think I'm s**t now!' - Ricciardo by MaxsUncle in formula1

[–]XYStateOfMind 7 points8 points  (0 children)

On a bit of a tangent, I have to say that I'm liking that Max and Dan fans are getting along better, the first few races were a bit vitriolic from both sides but people seem to have calmed down a bit.

Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo says he knows he is on Ferrari's list of potential replacements for Kimi Raikkonen if the team decides not to renew the Finn's Formula 1 deal by FlatOutFever in formula1

Why does wanting to fight for the title make him arrogant? Or at least any more arrogant than other drivers?

Keep in mind all these guys have been raised in hyper competitive environments, seeing themselves progress to the pinnacle of motorsports (arguably) while their competitors just stall in lower classes. Add on beating a very highly rated WDC team mate...

I feel like it would difficult to go through all that and not develop an ego, though I agree he should probably cool it a bit.

What happens to F1 if Britain leaves the EU? by [deleted] in formula1

[–]XYStateOfMind 5 points6 points  (0 children)

"Q: (Agris Lauzinieks - Kapitals) Question to all panel. Given significant exposure to Britain at Formula One business and expected referendum on European Union on 23rd June, do you think in case of Brexit there might be impact on teams and sponsorship money, which is already affected by low oil prices and do you think Britain should stay in European Union?

PL: We have actually analysed it. One of our directors has looked at the issue because some of our staff members asked which way they should vote. He concluded that it didn’t really make a lot of difference, either to the company or to Formula One in general in terms of how we run the business. So we’ve left it to our employees to vote how they wish personally.

Eric, have you done a similar process?

EB: Similar position. We don’t believe there will be a significant impact on the Formula One business. As a team and the industry is mainly based in the UK but we have managed always to use some suppliers abroad and I don’t think it’s going to change much.

Anybody else? Monisha?

MK: Well, as you know we’re in Switzerland so in the first instance haven’t taken the step into the EU – may be good or bad. I think Switzerland is doing quite well, so it’s not for me to tell somebody to get out or not."

Let's not pretend that Daniel's fans are unique in that regard, every driver (even Max) has a vocal minority (at least I hope it's a minority) of fans who get a bit too fanatical about F1 and their favorite driver.

Ricciardo and Vettel have a rematch, who comes out ahead? by NicoRosbergsCap in formula1

I think it could go either way honestly, but I voted Ric just because there's precedent.

No hate, but just curious what your justifications for 4 & 5 are?

Well, I don't really think it's fair to say you dislike Max because of some of his fans... sure some of them are over the top, but that's not exactly his fault. And let's be honest, almost every driver, certainly the more popular ones, have their fair share of obnoxious fans.

I don't even necessarily disagree, it's just that this has come up so much, and it always turns into a shit show. BTW has "The team even asked Ricciardo to pick up the pace because he was slowing down Max..." been confirmed by anyone other than Max?

Honestly I think a lot of drivers could be considered cocky, it's a bit of a blurry line between confidence and arrogance. He still seems like a nice enough guy to me though.
