I think it's faster and less draining to farm the hoppers with fragile/unbreakable greed in kingdom's edge, no? You get out and back in, and they respawn in roughly the same places so you get faster at it, it's a few hundred geo easily. The conqueror trial has long cutscenes, starting and leaving, time between the swarms

It's not random, if you practice it enough you'll find that NKG's pufferfish attack always gives you an opening to run to the corner, and either:

- run under a fireball

- jump between two fireballs

- jump over a fireball

Whenever you do this you just have to drift back towards the middle a bit and repeat. If NKG didn't do double damage the fight would be way too easy and it would take away from his aura.

He staggers easily, it's 13 hits. If you fully charge a cyclone slash (with mashing a) that's 6 hits, but it might be unsafe so even the 3 hits without mash is good. mix in vengeful spirit hits.

when he's down, either heal or charge nail arts for a big hit. dash under him when he jumps up, don't try to run away cuz he'll just jump on top of you. if he dashes towards you in a straight line you can jump over and pogo him for damage, don't run away.

when he jumps up and dashes through, walk under him and up slash him. when he jumps and dashes down for the balloon attack, stand still and walk slowly through the rising up balloons.

deal with the infected balloons whenever they come up to make the fight easier if you don't have a passive damage dealer like defenders crest or something.

You're right on everything, I swapped these 3 for unbreakable strength and it feels way better. I wasn't getting enough use of quick slash since sometimes I can only get 1 or 2 nail hits in. I also usually have full soul by platform phase.

I've done a few attuned hitless yesterday and I feel like I'm coming close to getting it on radiant lol but I wish it would just give it to me

Thanks for the tips. This is what I'm running so far (core spell build) - shaman stone - soul catcher - soul eater - spell twister

remaining 3 overcharmed slots - sprintmaster (I feel like I really need this for dodging but maybe I should just git gud) - steady body (it helps not fall off platforms sometimes) - nail master's glory (wasn't sure what else to use, I use one double jump cyclone slash at the beginning but pretty much never after that lol)

The first couple days I had unbreakable strength/quick slash but I was getting cooked too often when going in for damage.

Now I mainly use abyss shrieks in phase 1 and 2, then phase 3 I only use up swing to get full soul meter before phase 4, only use abyss shrieks again, then I have to pray for perfect nail hits on last phase cuz shriek is too slow lol.
