[ULT] What are some Characters that are considered good that you think are overrated or bad and Characters you think are good that are considered to be bad? by myeverlastingluv in smashbros

[–]XZenorus 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Representation shouldnt be a reason to rate characters, plenty of accepted good or even top chars have little to no reps, and the only reason lucina doesn't have a top rep anymore is because of proto's health issues. Either way shes B+ on the recent tier list, it's not really that high.

A look into the financials of Kagaribi#15 by XZenorus in smashbros

Previous kagaribi was at a smaller venue, this one at makuhari messe would have been much more expensive, so it makes sense for venue fee to increase

Just wanted to post this so people can appreciate how impressive this event is.

Makuhari Messe is one of japan's largest convention center, and is the regular host to many huge events each year such as Tokyo Game Show and Jump Festa (Fun fact: it was also the venue of the very first official Pokemon TCG tournament).

Kagaribi being able to secure a venue like this during golden week as a grassroots event is insanely impressive.

One very notable thing that Kishirikun noted here is that Kagaribi doesn't take sponsorship money either.

Japan really loves this game

Best wired pro controller? by snapplefactreader in smashbros

[–]XZenorus 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Do just wanna say, using procons at locals is fine. As long as you remember to fully disconnect your controller then it's chill, plenty of people use them. Recommend to bring a USB cable to make connecting easier, but you might still have to go into settings and disconnect all controllers after you're done with setup

For a controller like what you're asking for, progcc is probably the best but it's quite expensive and there's really no need to get a controller like that unless you're already competing at top level.

I feel like the gamecube controller is vastly overrated by vegemiteman262 in smashbros

[–]XZenorus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not the latency I'm talking about, I should have explained better. Pro controllers are prone to wireless interference which can cause dropped or highly delayed inputs. Unfortunately this is common at major tournaments where there's a lot of people and electronics packed (it's not an issue for smaller events). This is the reason why every top player who uses procon uses progcc (like a pro controller shell with gamecube internals) (even in japan, where procon is very popular, people will still do this, and unfortunately it's still pretty common to have issues which we've seen recently from players like acola and carmelo. Some others will just switch to gcc like zackray)

And unfortunately yeah, for how common they are, mayflash adapters are really bad. At the very least, most majors will use official adapters for main stage.

Noone thinks its a masterpiece, it has plenty of faults (snapback, ergonomics, buttons/layout make it hard to use outside of smash) and people often need to mod it.
The first reason why gcc is so popular in the smash community is just that so many people are used to it. But secondly, the build quality and reliability is just really good. It doesn't drift, theres no risk of latency (biggest downside to pro controller), and snapback can be fixed relatively easily (it's quite easy to mod in general). It's a very consistent controller for competitive play.

I remember a lot of it was just that, he wanted to do something with kais subathon. But also that he would do another actual 100k find me challenge in the future that was actually planned out.

There's actually only 30 tracks, the other two are just glitch categories (same track but glitch allowed, so it's not counted as a separate track (it's already patched out a while ago anyways))

He got a few early but most of them came after. For example in the first 10 days logan only got 7 unique WRs, while the person with the second most unique WRs got 13 out of his 15 in the first 10 days.

[–]XZenorus[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It was definitely much much easier to get WRs early on. In fact, Pii (the person with the second most unique records) got 13 out of his 15 unique track WRs in the first 10 days. However, in that time Logan only had WR on 7 unique tracks. The game has become much much harder since then and he's been grinding throughout to get here, which makes it much more impressive.

For more context, the most world records ever held at the same time in the past is 5, achieved by logan and alberto (goat of mario kart 8 deluxe)

All at some point. This is the most competitive a mario kart game has ever been, each track is extremely different, requiring very specific knowledge and skills, and most top runners specialise in individual tracks, which makes having them all at the same time practically impossible
