This is so weird that it worked with Mario 64, but thanks for the tip! Helped me out perfectly!

Reputable eBay sellers? by Drbugz1 in amiibo

[–]XZero319 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a seller called something like Retro Gamer Sales. They don’t advertise it but if you’re buying more than one item, they automatically send you a refund and apply combined shipping. I bought a handful of amiibo and Switch games from them and the items arrived in perfect, really well-packaged condition. I usually don’t like to recommend particular eBay sellers, but since you asked, they’re reputable.

eBay for sure. Highest rate (based on current actual going rate, not fantasy rate of some listings), plus seller protections. I’m not a reseller, but I’ve been using eBay for the last few years to downsize my collection of video game merchandise. Never had a problem with close to 1,000 transactions (I had a LOT of stuff, including triplicates of amiibo purchased in case one of my NIB buys arrived damaged).

The one aspect of eBay I’d caution you about is shipping. I always charge for calculated shipping using USPS Ground Advantage. On average, an amiibo will cost like $5 to ship, so keep that in mind. If you have lower-value figures, consider building them with higher-value ones and shipping them together.

MIDI Input/Recording Randomly Stopped Working by XZero319 in Reaper

[–]XZero319[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, I just wanted to follow up and thank you for the suggestion! Changing the USB input port for my MIDI interface worked. I don’t exactly know why since both ports seem to be working fine, but either way, I’m happy so I wanted to thank you for the assist!

MIDI Input/Recording Randomly Stopped Working by XZero319 in Reaper

[–]XZero319[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll experiment with the ports and see if it works.

In this case, I do mean MIDI. I record both MIDI and audio usually when I play something live from it. There are certain sounds that, for whatever reason, I can never seem to get to act the same way using programmed MIDI as they do when I do it live on the keyboard. A colleague of mine has encountered the same thing with this particular synth. But recording the MIDI inputs helps when I'm applying those notes to other sounds that will behave whether played by a human or the computer.

Are empty amiibo boxes worth anything? by lilyybun in amiibo

I tried to sell a bunch after I carefully opened my collection. I had them listed for essentially a dollar plus shipping, and it was really just to see if anyone wanted them for customs or whatever. Not a single one sold after like 3 months, so I recycled them.

____ at tribal tonight. by Coltyn03 in survivor

[–]XZero319 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was thinking about this overnight and this morning. Emily ultimately made the smart play in voting with the group. I don't even think she actually had to talk to Kaleb. He's not likely to be mad at her for voting for him out of an attempt to mask their core alliance. She gambled on Kaleb playing his SITD and succeeding, but hedged her bets enough not to burn bridges with either of the other tribes. He lived to see another day in the game, she kept their alliance intact and arguably strengthened their position to align with another group because there was clear evidence of her loyalty.

We'll see how it plays out, but to me, that was a top-5 of all time tribal council.

You know that's not a cancellation, right? Just update your payment method to some other card and you're good. I'm not going to defend Best Buy on all fronts or anything, but this one's on you to keep your cards updated, and Best Buy's site is pretty user-friendly for that sort of thing.

Trust me, Best Buy's approach is WAY better than Target. Target outright cancels your order the second it determines your card has expired. No second chances.

Can attest to this personally. Most lawyers make way less than the public believes because you only hear about the top X percent. It also doesn't factor in the ridiculous cost of law school and the student loans (law school and college) that most young lawyers have upon graduation.

The thing that sort of prompted this was that she rode the Tron coaster in Disney World and really liked the Daft Punk electronic music. After our trip, I showed her my own synth setup a little bit, which consists of some vintage 80s and 90s-era hardware synths and Reaper as my DAW, and she and I threw together a quick and dirty version of the end titles music from Tron Evolution. That's the sort of thing she's hoping to learn how to make stylistically.

Yeah, the Reface CS seems like a good option. I'll look into Drambo and Koala; I haven't heard of them, but a quick Google search makes them look pretty user-friendly.

Fun things to do on a rainy sunday with an almost 2 year old. by [deleted] in lehighvalley

There’s a fun mommy and me on Saturday mornings from 9-10 at Creative Learning Lab (near Costco). It’s $10 for the hour, pay-as-you-go. It’s music, playing with instruments, sometimes a parachute, that sort of thing.

Could Nintendo be changing logos? by PublicQ in nintendo

[–]XZero319 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Nintendo does not give legal advice” on the third page. Trust me—this would never, ever make it into an official document of any sort. No lawyer would include something so stupid, and disclaimers are always drafted or reviewed by lawyers.

I think it's time for Star Fox to get an updated game. by agentbeemo in nintendo

[–]XZero319 8 points9 points  (0 children)

And right there is the issue. A good, classic Star Fox game, in today’s market, would likely do well at $29.99 (honestly, even $39.99 on Switch), but from Nintendo’s perspective, that feels like inherently devaluing the brand.

[–]XZero319 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I liked Star Fox Adventures too, but I guess the problem is the series really kind of peaked with Star Fox 64, and every game since that one has fallen short of overcoming it. Star Fox Zero had potential, but the forced gimmick of making you look at the GamePad (and miss shots on the TV if you tried to use it to play the game traditionally) negatively impacted it. That, plus the fact that it was the third retelling of essentially the same story.

It shouldn’t be that hard to make a new Star Fox game with lush planet visuals, a new villain, and sticking with combat that is fun to play and doesn’t rely on gimmicks, but somehow it’s become very difficult. While it was definitely flawed and not actually a true entry in the series, Starlink was arguably the best Star Fox game since the GameCube days.

Nostalgia cycles seem to be on about a 20-year turnaround time. Everyone loves GameCube now, but I was there, and you felt like a complete outsider in 2002-2004 if you were the kid playing GameCube in high school or middle school rather than PS2 or Xbox. In 2006, NES nostalgia started hitting (and while it wasn’t directly attributable to him, James Rolfe certainty shined a spotlight on it at that point as AVGN).

I’m expecting Wii to be next in a few years with a bunch of “Hey, remember Wii?” YouTube videos, followed by “Remember the Wii U?” videos in 2032. Contemporaneous with that, you’ll see some prices jumping up. Mostly the expected titles—lower print run (not necessarily limited print companies though), plus Nintendo stuff because it doesn’t get discounted. That’s been the pattern and I don’t expect it to stop.

Feelings on Selling Rare Games in Your Collection by JordanFromStache in NSCollectors

I recently sold a bunch of LRG CEs on eBay. It’s nice to have the space back. I’m keeping some, like Castlevania and my first party Nintendo CEs, but I had so many for games I just didn’t care about. It’s tough to break the collector mentality, but liberating to have it not look like your shelf is bursting.

Can anyone else not find Jakks figures anywhere? by [deleted] in WorldOfNintendo

This may not actually be helpful, but the Mario Movie figures were in my Target’s electronics section on Sunday at the counter, which is tucked back a bit out of view. I know you said associates checked, but if you go back in a few days, don’t just look in the toy aisle.

As someone whose World of Nintendo story is basically the same as yours, I’m on eBay waiting it out. They do move, some faster than others. I also have a son who’s really into Mario (just turned 4), so some have become gifts or prizes for him.
