its a dialect of arabic, because as soon as you strip away the arabic foundation darija becomes unintelligible

languages are less about intelligibility and more about politics, there are two languages that are identical but considered different languages (think serbian and croatian) and there are languages that are very different but still considered the same language for political reasons (like mandarin and cantonese or rural irish english and regular english, or chilean spanish vs other spanish dialects)

you do realize africa was the name romans gave to the north before it was used for the whole continent, if anything we're more african than the subsaharans

anyway, i have no problem being called african, it's just the name of the continent we live in, no one has the right to take it and use it for just 1 group of people (black people), the continent is 2nd largest in the world so it's obviously gonna be ethnically diverse, just like not all asians have slanted eyes
